Ha ha

a retaliatory response isn't always the best way to go, and ignoring it tends to build up frustration that usually leaks out and has repercussions on innocents around us. Getting pissed off at the rain (things that you have no hope to control) is a foolish waste of energy.

*shrugs* You don't have to believe in my ways.

well put. We all know the dangers of freedom of speech.

Live and learn... that said, nobody said you should walk around banging your head with a brick; because it amuses others. Intelligence is knowing a puddle is in front of you and avoiding it, neatly.

There is a direct correlation between my received shit PMs and when my posts have a sexual innuendo. When I choose to be fun and sexually charged, I realize there's a good chance that I'm gonna get suggestive PMs. Very few are out of line, which I ignore. Is it right, hell no. But I realize that's the chance I take. Horny men are like teenagers -- shit for brains.

I guess vent your frustrations if that makes you feel better. Some will sympathize and others will say you reap what you sow.
Being stocked and harassed is not acceptable. No!! Borderline shitty suggestive PMs that relate to a sexual post you made or pic posted, well go figure.
One need to keep in the back of their mind that (some, not all) conversations and tact used (or not used) is not how we talk to each other in RL. Most men (and women) have class, don't let the few fucktards that are lacking ruin your day.

As for the blind links, LOL, I still bear Little Sister scars, so I approach them with trepidation and fear - and usually don't click on them.

As for the crazy and inappropriate PM's.

I do think one of the challenges people face in all forms of social media is how to deal with the crazy, the trolls, and the idiots. Personally, I just roll them off my back like water off a duck. Though women are out here having a different experience then men are, sometimes significantly different, I think there are some general principles that I've found work for me.

1. Ignore early, ignore often - if you can't mentally ignore them, then ignore or block them at the first sign of crazy. Once someone has landed in the crazy bucket, delete their messages unread at first sight.

2. Give them one chance at crazy. I like meeting new people so I will engage in conversation with virtually anyone, but at the first sign of crazy (inappropriate demands, abusive or passive-aggressive behavior, or complete non-sequitors) see rule 1.

3. Accept responsibility for your social media experience and craft it accordingly. You don't owe anything to these people - not even being polite. If they're trying to draw you into something that detracts from your experience - cut them off and let them wander around in their own world.

4. For persistent crazy/stalkers, see Rule 1 and just never fall for the bait again. Be cautiously open with strangers - but hit them with the virtual pepperspray early and often (Rule 1).

5. Have your warning filter set to detect early signs of carefully hidden crazy. The things that catch me right off the bat are demands for personal contact information right off the bat, then repeated often when you decline. Folks who make any conversation all about themselves. Folks who seem not to understand that we all have real lives outside of the internet and that IRL matters more.

I've found that with a good crazy filter my experience online is simply that much more enjoyable. Always best of luck in the wild wild west.

I love acting stupid in front of a dame. I never insult, just praise them. If they call me stupid (they dont) I tell them its their fault for being so fetching....

Dusts off the badge, looks like Aussie has earned herself a citation. Her recidivism is my own fault as I let it slide the first time.

So I'm announcing today as Citation Thursday, all are deputized for the day to issue whatever citations you feel are warranted. Your jurisdiction goes beyond this thread, so should you feel the need to write a few people up, here's your chance.

We all chat, flirt, and sometimes area little bit bad/naughty on threads. Sometimes we post pictures of ourselves that are provocative in the least, and pornographic in the most. And with all these public displays of our R - X-rated selves we are sure, if not hopeful, to illicit responses. In fact, we all actually crave those responses.

But that all comes with a price. The pricing being that at times we may get a response, in public or private, that we don't like. Maybe it's a troll insulting us. Maybe it's someone being a bit too sexually overt with their message. And sometimes an asshat will wander along and push one of our buttons that incites a response.

My question is, what is a fair price to pay for provocative posting? Should we just let the inappropriate responses we get, slide off our back, delete and move on? Should we engage and try to get the respondent to see the errors of their ways. Or should we go to one of the Dear Lister, Dear X, What Are You Thinking boards and post out our frustrations?

Or should we live a Puritan lifestyle and forego all this?

I missed this question yesterday and I would like to weigh in.

First off, people need to grow the fuck up. Anyone who gets genuinely offended at a random PM of someone offering to fuck you is just a brat. I'm not saying it's right. But the solution is so fucking simple. Delete it. Block the person. Move on. Or do what Aqua does and send that awful pic. Yuck.

Secondly, it's not like saying "she was dressed like a whore so she deserved to get raped". Nope. Not at all. It's like Dave Chappell says... if you're dressed up like a cop, acting like a cop and hanging out at a donut shop, don't feign anger and be righteously indignant about someone asking you about cop things.

Third, there is just the reality that if you post your Tits all over the site, you're probably going to get some unwanted messages. I'm not saying that's right or how it should be. It's just how it is. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to change the culture. But it's like me bitching about walking through Boston with a Yankees jersey and getting harassed. Should I be able to do that? Of course. But if every time I do it I get food thrown at me, maybe I should re-think my decision to do that.

Last, some PMs are just awful and inappropriate. Those don't need to be tolerated. But some guy writing a PM and flirting with you or making sexual comments... my god. Is it the end of the fucking world!? The funniest thing is that those who post the complaints about shit like that are usually the ones spreading their twats and posting their tits all over the place and flirting with anything that gets remotely hard. Then they post their bullshit "I'm leaving Lit" posts so they can get people to finger them back to Lit

^^^
Lol

I'm sorry, but I'm chuckling over here.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who goes off on a tangent once in a while.

Care to join me in group therapy, Pmann?
:p

Not grumpy. People are so dramatic. And some people here act like they're in high school. The way they seek affirmation and validation here is just fucking weird.

If a big deal in your life is an anonymous, random, overly sexual PM, then you don't have anything of real importance going on in your life. These are the type of people who claim to hate drama and claim that everyone around them is always creating drama. Well, perhaps they are the source of said drama.

I'll go ahead and issue a citation to myself, Papa Chained, for my rant.

Just trying to get you in a better mood, Pmann. I see your point of view :)
