I don't get it. Maybe it's me. I thought his site was supposed to be fun, a place to share experiences and fantasies. A place to record your memories and desires and share them with like-minded people. I've been coming to his site for years, even before I had an account. It was always fun, always erotic. When i started adding my own stories, I loved the feedback, the encouragement.

I recently uploaded a story, Affair with a Married Couple. I'll admit it was rushed. It had been on my mind for a while and I just wanted to get it written down. Usually I'll read and reread any stories and edit as needed but I had had a few drinks and figured 'what he hell'. So much for the warm encouragement.

"Just two dogs fucking." an anonymous reader said. What does that even mean?

"At least you did it in one page." said another. Do people really want to read a novel or a long winded explaination? To be honest the first thing I check when I pull up a story is it's length. I'll read a page, page and a half. More than that and I loose interest. What's wrong with keeping it short and breaking it up into chapters so people can come back if they like it or move on? This guy also said "turned a threesome story into cuck crap". Nowhere does it say it's a threesome. It's tagged as a cuckold story.....in fact cuckold is the first tag! If you don't like a certain topic, don't search it or check the tags before you spend your time reading the story. Is the concept that complicated?

I got an email about the story...." No chapter # in the title to warn this wasn't a complete story ALWAYS earns an automatic rating of 1." Is that a rule I wasn't aware of? I didn't say there was going to be another chapter. Where did this jacktard get this from? Will there be another chapter? Maybe, I haven't decided yet. And what's with the anonymous responses? If you have something to say, say it. Don't hide. We are all grown ups.

This is one of my favorites: "Drop the true story crap. No one believes a word coming out of your mouth and telling us this is true just makes us laugh and does nothing for the lousy story." This happened. Maybe not exactly but I do say it is "mostly" true. I fluffed it up a little to make it more readable. Other stories I wrote are based on really too. Matt and Tom? Yeah, not one of my proudest moments. Maybe I'm really lucky. I've had some great experiences in my life. All my stories have some truth to them. Maybe I lived it or maybe someone I know did. I'd like to think that we all have had some good times sexually. If you haven't, I sincerely feel sorry for you. But don't ruin everyone elses fun. Maybe your attitude is the reason why you don't have any hot experiences to share. The great thing about this site is there are a million (maybe more) stories here. If you get a paragraph or two into one and don't like where it's going.....Move on. Why read a story that doesn't interest you? This isn't assigned reading.

Swingerjoe said, "It's a fun story, but without any background, there isn't much of a story here. Who are these people? Why are they doing this? What was said during those chat sessions? What happened as a result of this?"

I give props to Joe for not hiding behind anonymity. As I said, I rushed this and he called me out on it. And at least the criticism is constructive. The character development was not my best but does it really matters who they are? I met them online, they are a horny married couple. And does anyone really want me to drivel on about little conversations in chat messages? If they were hot I would have mentioned them. And what happened as a result? Really? The encounter ended. Why drag it out? It leaves me the option to continue the story if I desire. It's nice to know I left him wanting more. Regardless, he doesn't need to be so high school English teacher-y about it. Maybe he is the twat waffle that sent that email.

Let's get back to having fun here. If you don't like a story, find one that you do. There is no need for snarky remarks or low ratings. If its not your cup of tea just keep looking. You'll find something you like here. Constructive criticism is fine but leave the nastiness at the door. Remember, this is just a site for amateur writers to share their stories. If you want expertly written literature, try Barnes and Nobles.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Loving Wives has a toxic mix of people. If you don't fit their exact kink they will give abusive comments.

It should come with a warning notice "Beware! Infested with Trolls!".

Denny

My wife and I both write under the same losername. Most members don't believe or want to believe a married couple can use one account and write true stories.

I tried to post under "Loving Wives." I takes a loving wife to put up with the crap I've put her through. There is no love there for honest true stories or much of anything else.

We went back to what our stories are really about "Exhibitionists." Still get Anon negative feedback but in all honesty neither of us are writers so expect it. I help my wife when she writes and she's easily upset by real authors who call our style crap and lies. When we read our own crap over it's even hard for us to believe things we've done. But we don't add fluff.

I did start adding naughty language after being encouraged to make the stories sound dirtier and realistic. I also started adding lots of details of how, why, and where things happened to lead up to some of the unbelievable events. I repeat this crap in almost all new chapters since what I call books are just short stories that are similar. Some become several chapters, others just enough to make the minimum words.

We write to encourage other young couples to just get out and try a few of the things they read and hear about. If only a few read our stories and try one game, it's all worth the trouble. Bad reviews no longer bother me. I'm too bullheaded and old to care!

I really don't care who likes or dislikes our work. We are both old and only joined to share our TRUE stories with like minded people like us who get out of grandma's basement and really do enjoy public sex.

After some health issues, moving back to the mid west, which was really a shock, plus not being able to add stories when switching to Win10 and loosing my WORDS, I'm trying to finish up when I have time.

Write for yourself and some of us will be happy to read what you have, when we have the time. Sure, they are fantasies. But they can really happen if you believe in angels.

Yes. It's 'Affair with a Married Couple'.

Wise man once say: do not put penis in hill of fire ants, and do not post story in Loving Wives... but I repeat myself.

(Like, what ogg said, but I'd put it more strongly in saying I wouldn't touch that place with a bargepole.)

Hi, there. Twat waffle here. (Okay, not really. I just laughed out loud when I read that.)

The others pretty much hit the nail on the head. Loving Wives readers are mostly angry, bitter, old men who've been wronged by some woman at some point in their miserable lives, and come to an erotic story site (for some reason) to vent their rage. It's the worst-possible category to submit a story if you're concerned about ratings and feedback.

...which is why it's pretty much the only category to which I ever submit my stories. I couldn't care less about the negative feedback. At least in LW, you get feedback! Whenever I submit to the other categories, I will get a high score and maybe two or three comments, max. When I submit to LW, I get a mediocre score and 60-100+ comments. I write for my own enjoyment, and I submit some of my stories here because it's fun to do (and a handful of people genuinely appreciate my efforts.)

As far as your (OP's) story goes, I stand by my comment. You can write a story about a real-life experience and still add to the character development and other "English teachery" elements of good storytelling. A story about two random people fucking is about as exciting as watching a porn of two random people fucking. It's so much hotter when you know who those people are and why they're fucking.

Re. the old man who wrote "you're writing a story on the world wide web! No one believes it when you say it's a real story", that guy cuts-and-pastes the same comment on ANY story that begins with "this is a true story." I know it's the same guy because who on earth uses the phrase "world wide web" in 2017?

I've written many true stories for this site, but never indicate that it is true or not. I think it's more fun to write a true story and have people comment about what an unrealistic fantasy it is!

If you really want to get back to having fun on this site, you just have to know how to have fun!

Keep writing, and keep submitting to LW. Don't let the angry old men win!

I appreciate all the support. I had no idea Loving Wives was so full of haters. What a shame. After reading that I went back and started reading comments on other stories and found that some comments actually were cut and pasted into the comments. I also found negative comments in other sections but LW was clearly the worst.

I have been coming to this site off and on for years and one of the reasons I always come back is because I respect the support the readers have for the writers. I suppose that's a thing of the past. I read a story today where the guy said he stopped writing because he was tired of the negative feedback. It's a shame too because his stories were actually quite hot. It's a real shame.

As I said in my rant, I appreciate swingerjoe's constructive criticism and had the other comments not aggravated me so much I doubt I would have mentioned him at all. I know better than to post a story I wrote while drinking without waiting to be sober to edit it. I set myself up to fail and joe pointed it out. I respect your comments and appreciate the feedback swingerjoe.

LIVINRFANTASIES, I love that you write stories about real experiences and that your wife writes as well. I hope you work out your computer issues. I'll be sure to check out your work as well.

I dunno about that. I still find the vast majority of readers here are pretty much positive and fair. Some categories have developed their own informal rules and cultures over time, maybe, but that's to be expected when a site's around as long as Lit.

Agree with Cyrano. Other than one blatant rolling troll attack which stopped the day it started - "delete comment, delete AH post" is my friend - and a couple of petulant comma Nazis, my reader base, as judged by comments, is far more positive than not. But then I would not go near LW in a hundred years.

Jrzdogg,

You gotta hang tough, man. I've had comments suggesting that I light myself on fire, that I'm a teenager not old enough to be here, that I'm a liver-spotted old fuck, that I'm not only shit but also shite! I didn't even know they were different things! I had one guy get very mad because he felt i chose the wrong genre for a multi-part story!

I actually screwed up my very first story because of comments I received. The comments dwindled on a multi-part story and I lost faith and botched up the ending. Stupid move on my part.

Your hope, and all authors hope, that your story will be the number one story on the site and people will congratulate you for years to come. Really, i hope that with every story I write! But... it probably won't happen, so you learn to try and take the comments in stride. There are a lot of bitter, angry folks out there, but there's a lot of good folks too. Take what you can from them, and move on.

Try and write for yourself, and the critics be damned.

LOL. After reading the first line of the opening post, I already correctly guessed that the entire rant could be summed up as "I posted in Loving Wives for the first time, AAAHHHH!!!!"

Denny

do not put penis in hill of fire ants, and do not post story in Loving Wives.

That made me laugh.:D We lived in Florida for the last 23 years. We both know why they call those little bugs Fire Ants!

For all of the above posted reasons and more I'm going to make up a "true" story and post it in Loving Wives.
I'll begin with part of it being true then maybe just go with the loving flow. In fact, when finished it may actually be true.................. or just lot of loving bullshit!

We all have to do our part to make dirty old grouchy men happy.

Just to piss them off and get them going (lol), whenever I post a story in Loving Wives, I write a not so loving wife story

Most readers go ballistic but a couple get my not so subtle tongue firmly planted in cheek humor.

Perhaps next time you should post your story about a loving wife in the romance category.

Good luck.

SusanJillParker ??!!! I'm a huge fan of your work!! It's fantastic....

I'd be curious as to how many of your stories are true of based on real events....

Once you've realized that "Susan" is a middle-aged guy named Freddie (no joke), you probably can figure that question out for yourself.

Imagine a person with not much to do, posting hateful replies to storylines they don't like.

Add to the mix, what if that person is "quite knowledgeable" (or more) on how the internet works? One person could present as 20, 40, or hundreds quite easily, the more technically advanced they are, the higher the number. I won't describe how, but i will say they can.

I'm not entirely convinced there are dozens or hundreds of individuals. It could quite easily be just one or two. Particularly since it's such a flurry when a story is new. Granted, some people end up stalked for life, others don't, so perhaps the person has certain hot buttons, either in the stories, or how the author engages with them.

Just food for thought though. It may be far fewer actual people than everyone thinks.

It's certainly food for thought.

...I read a story today where the guy said he stopped writing because he was tired of the negative feedback. It's a shame too because his stories were actually quite hot. It's a real shame...

Sounds a lot like me lol. I used to write adult stories all the time on a different site. They weren't great, but enough people liked them that I wanted to continue. Then the trolls started in, saying that it was "unrealistic" (I'm like, 'duh, it's a fictional story, not to be taken seriously'). Eventually I gave up because I was tired of hearing the crap. I had a second part to said story as well, unpublished, and I shelved it as a result. I still have most of it, and I might even edit them to update the writing style I prefer, and put them up on here. It'll just be a while.

Even if you hadn't posted in "Loving Wives," you have to strike a really delicate balance with feedback. I love feedback. It's the only reason I post here (since I'm otherwise giving away content for free) - to learn what people react to and how they react. At the same time, it's one person's reaction at one point in time, and everyone has a slightly different motivation. Some people want exposition (so-and-so was 5' 8" with long blonde hair and a perfect c cup). Some people want tantalizing, teasing narratives. Some people respond to characters and backstory. If you're writing in order to share a personal experience, that's almost a memoir at that point. It may or may not fit what any given individual wants to read. So take all of it with a grain of salt - hard as that might be!!

I have no problem with constructive criticism. It's all part of posting on a site like this. What is fucked up is that the comments in LW are intentionally disrespectful. Just take a look at some of the comments over there. I'm not even sure what kind of story belongs over there because they attack everyone! And the people making many of the comments haven't submitted any stories. They are just pathetic, lonely old men that have never enjoyed the company of a women and feel the need to harrass those of us who have. It's very sad.

Yep. I had the same experience, and I've never posted in that section after the first time. The readers take the writing waaaaaay too literally, and they have an anger that doesn't seem entirely healthy. I can understand the erotic possibilities of a scene involving a wife having sex with another man in front of her husband, and I'm not going to judge her (meaning: a character in something I'm reading, even if it is based on someone's real experiences) for it. That would be weird. Sorry you had to deal with those comments!!

I posted a story in "loving wives" recently, but it caused such a stink that I ended up removing it, along with all my other published works.

The story contained elements of kink, fetish, bondage, and cuckolding which people found offensive, but the story involved a man falling in love with and marrying a dominatrix, despite some rather extreme and non- conventional aspects of their relationship. So it was part love story part fetish/kink story.

But people were really upset and offended by it. My line of thinking was, I screwed up by writing something offensive, much like if I had published something involving kids or animals, and that the best way to rectify it was to remove the offending story. It was not like "caving to the trolls" but rather I felt like I was inadvertently doing the trolling by posting that story. It also made me really, seriously, take a hard look at my own tastes in kink and fetish, and whether there was something psychologically wrong with me. I obviously think I would have been better off posting it under a more fetish-centric category instead of "Loving Wives."

This was 2 weeks ago and this is the first post I have made since then, because I was so embarrassed by the whole incident I was ready to give up on the site altogether. But reading the above comments has made me feel a little better about the whole thing. I guess if there is a lesson here it is, REALLY be careful what you submit under "loving wives" category. It is interesting reading from the experiences above.

Denny

After coming back and reading these other LOVING WIVES experiences it's really sad that a few haters keep many writers from putting stories in Loving Wives that actually belong there.
In our long lifetime we've learned there really are few loving wives who actually do these things for real. Which makes it sad that those stories can't be lovingly added to Loving Wives.
