I was reading an article in a magazine at my dentist office. It was a social experiment on classifying people into compatible groups. Basically, they surveyed 100 people on various interests, political views, religion, occupation, economic status, etc...and then tossed them into a social gathering together to see if they migrated into the expected groups based on their similarities. The result was completely random...nothing predictable. There was a follow up interview with each person where they gave their opinions on those they interacted with. The researcher declared that people are too complex, too judgemental, and too idealistic in their expectations of others to successfully place them into groups that got along with each other. A previous study had been done using different breeds of dogs to note certain characteristics and behaviors which yielded much more solid results. The author of the article suggested that if people could view each other they way dogs do, we would be a much more organized society.

Anyway, just for fun I thought it would be interesting to see what people would say about themselves if asked to characterize themselves as a dog...

I am a pomeranian. Cute, small, soft, fluffy hair. I love to lay in your lap and be petted. But I'm also happy to curl up in my own little spot for a while and not be bothered. Generally friendly and welcoming to new guests, but might bark at a stranger knocking on the door just as a warning. ☺

Haha, what an interesting idea! Hm... I'd be a collie, I think. Loyal, smart, not huge but not tiny, either. And way too excited over small things.

Husky

I'm loyal to my pack, I love to cuddle, my bark is usually worse than my bite, I am not a morning person, I am partially domesticated but still have a wild streak, and I love the snow the only difference is I hate the cold

I use to have a Siberian Husky. Good description. According to your 'dog personality' we would great friends!

Pure bred Mutt, loyal to my mate protective of her, but still enjoying the fact that I can lick my own balls once in a while.

Maremma Sheepdog

The Maremma Sheepdog Club of America does NOT recommend the Maremma as a pet.

Wow! Interesting read on that link. I had never heard of that breed.

So, I got very physically affectionate, not a good pet, needs a job to keep it occupied, very protective guard dog, not great at following instructions because it makes its own decisions, and reacts negatively to teasing. I love the paragraph near the end on what type of owner is best...it basically says "Do not buy one" for every scenario. LOL.

I think my little pomeranian self would be a little afraid to approach you ☺

I don't really like dogs and I think a type of cat suits me best. But having to choose a dog, I think Chihuahua works for me.

Under six pounds at maturity, these quivering balls of nerves are especially unsuitable for homes with children. They are known to bond intensely with their owners to the point of obsession, lashing out viciously at anyone else who approaches, including larger dogs.

Prague Ratter

Best known for its active and lively nature, the Prague Ratter is a spunky breed that is full of original character. These tiny dogs thrive on strong and dependable relationships with humans, love to receive affection and play the role of lap dog during down time. This breed is highly intelligent and generally responds well to basic training and commands. As a pet, the Prague Ratter is obedient, loyal, loving, and very affectionate. The Prague Ratter adapts well to full-time indoor and apartment living, yet still enjoys spending time outdoors, playing games such as fetch, and taking long and leisurely walks. They are also known to be a very quiet dog unlike many other small dogs who tend to be very "yappy".

Due to its need for human attention and eagerness to please and impress its owner, the Prague Ratter generally responds well to basic training and commands. This bright breed has the ability to learn to perform many impressive tricks and tasks. Establishing immediate trust and respect is key to successfully training the Prague Ratter. These dogs can be somewhat sensitive to criticism and respond best to positive reinforcement and reward-based training.

I don't know you personally so I can't really say, but I thought both descriptions were good. Maybe you're a mixed breed? A little of both?

My father had a fairly large book about dogs and the various breeds and as a child I spent quite some time browsing through it, for no special reason; meaning I grew up with dogs (we always had one in the family till my parents decided they got too old to get a new one), but I'm rather indifferent about them in general. Maybe indifferent isn't the right word. I like dogs (more than cats), I have the patience and understanding to train them and I get their body language, but I could live without them, too. I'm not the "You can live without a dog, but why?" person.

Poisonous for dogs, you are out of luck.

I grew up not really liking dogs. My parents got a dog once that hated me and my sisters and it tried to bite us a lot so they ended up giving the dog to my uncle because he had space and no kids. Then there was another time my aunt had a dog that was well trained but aggressive that almost ripped my sister's throat out. Luckily her face was in the way so she just had some puncture wounds from the attack. ( ^ω^ ) I tolerate dogs, but I prefer cats.

Good thing I'm not a dog. o_O;;

(((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))♡ I'll have all the chocolate now.

I would be whatever breed of dog likes to lick his own balls the most.
