He's been on fire lately as the strongest voice in Congress for smaller government and less war and interventionism overseas. He's the only one really taking on McLame and Graham in the Senate.

The question is who will take over the populist, America First movement after President Trump. Paul seems to be setting himself up as the natural leader after President Trump.

While his dad is a truly intellectual, thoughtful and principled leader, whom I support in both 2008 and 2012, despite obvious philosophical disagreements on a few issues such as trade, I have always been a bit skeptical about Rand. Especially after Rand's attacks on Trump during the campaign. He seems to have mended his ways and is emerging as the real voice of resistance to the establishment in Congress.

He's well spoken, nice looking, intelligent, funny, and likable in a forceful but non-abrasive way. If he sticks to a natioanl populist message, maybe with a bit more of less government and a stronger emphais on the Constitution and pro-liberty, he should have a bright future. He should inherit the Trump support, add some libertarians and others, and could meld the national populist and libertarian bases of support.

Rand Paul along with every other Republican will not run in 2020. It's bad form to run against the President that's in your party. Same reason why no Dems ran against Obama when he was running for his second term.

Rand's next shot will be 2024.

There's something deeply disturbing about Ron Paul naming his son after Ayn Rand.

Dumbass...Rand Paul is not named after Ayn Rand. Rand is short for Randal. His wife shortened it to Rand since she wasn't going to call him Randy (which is what his parents called him). When Rand was running, that inaccurate talking point was repeated by Liberal posters like a broken record.

*chuckle*

Regarding the OP, I think he's just doing something uncommon in DC, standing up for principle instead of standing up for the party, and since he's about about as Republican as Bernie is a Democrat, I think he is in good standing and it is a little too soon to be running for President unless you are a Clinton...

Paul will never be president, nor should be, nor should any libertarian.

FREEDOM BAD!!! LOL

95%+ of D.C. would rather just rat fuck the working class like they have been for decades until that program comes flying apart just like every other socialist scam. Liberalism (real liberalism not the socialism poser version) would be of great benefit to the masses and shit all over elites like Obama and Trump....and we can't have that!!

I don't know that he will run in 2020, but I do think it's smart for him to delineate some areas of disagreement with Trump, since the eventual natural reaction of Republicans is going to be to pretend that Trump never happened.

Why no Libertarian? I was thinking a Bill Weld lead Libertarian Party would be good for the country.

What America needs is social democracy, not libertartianism. If you're watching Trump butcher the federal budget, just imagine what a real libertarian would do.

What America needs is social democracy,

LOL

Yea, because the USA needs mass starvation! That shit's great. :D

I know I know, it's working ok in a few piss ant Scandinavian countries that haven't yet gone cannibal like all the other social democracies.

What America actually needs to do is remove the shitty regulations and laws that strangle the economy and job growth. For example, there's a law on the books in Texas for people that want to be a computer repair tech (like those Geek Squad guys from Best Buy.) You can only be a computer tech if you are also a licensed private investigator.

There are literally thousands of these stupid laws/regulations that kill jobs. They need to go. Next, the Fed and the Department of Defense need to be fully audited. And most importantly, The Constitution needs to be amended to prevent the Federal government from spending more than we bring in. After WW2, the Federal government shrunk by 60% so we could pay back what we owed. We are up to our eyeballs in debt and yet the politicians in Washington have no problem wastefully spending like a drunken gold digger with your credit card.

We need to stop spending money that we don't have. The government needs to shrink. End of story.

Have you not noticed -- you must have -- that social democracy works better, and produces better outcomes, than freer forms of capitalism?

Probably because you'll be working directly with the FBI and intel communities in pursuit of unlawful or suspicious activity on your computer.

FFS, it's almost as if some people try to look stupid

"(a) Information obtained through the review and analysis of the content of computer-based data with the intent to use such data a evidence in a criminal or civil hearing must be obtained and furnished by an investigations company license under the Act or by an individual exempted from licensure under ?1702.323 (a) of the Act. (b) The repair or maintenance of a computer does not require licensing under the Act, even if during the course of the repair or maintenance the person discovers information described by ?1702.104 (a) (1)."

Mission accomplished, btw.

That's because USA isn't capitalist.....it's corporatist.

It's the Corporate-Governmental Complex in which the government works with big business in return for cash and writes the regulations that stifle competition, but KO doesn't see this because he is focused on the beauty and goodness of Socialism and how it would best benefit us as it does for a few cherry-picked examples of small homogeneous tribes with a strong sense of community and a shared culture and fate...
