So, we all had a list of favorite movies, or movies we really liked when young...

How many of us liked this one? :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_Gz_iTuRMM

It does exemplify many leftist perceptions that are essentially flawed, and they're unaware of it. Quite insidious too.

If it's any consolation, I used to be a leftist all my life.

Have you thought about speaking to a professional about your fixation?

You realize these people have NO sense of humor, right?

Sometimes I think we try to find too much meaning in mindless entertainment. The writers (and there may be 7 of them before the movie is done) spend so much time in fight scenes, romantic subplots and explosions that they leave huge plot holes. I am not at all convinced they had some deep hidden message in the story. I think it's more we interpret it based on our world views.

You still are a leftist. It's just that the right came around to your prefered flavor of socialism.

Valid.

Rorschach pretty much applies to everything that we sense with any of our senses.

We can overestimate the intended meaning of such things, but we cannot overestimate their effect on our collective mind and culture.

How many Marxists does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light bulb contains the seeds of its own revolution.

How many Maoists does it take to change a light bulb?

100. One to screw in the bulb and 99 to chant "Fight Darkness!"

How many supply-side economists does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The darkness will cause the light bulb to change itself.

How many nuclear engineers does it take to change a light bulb?

100. One to screw in the new one, and 99 to try to figure out what to do with the old one.

How many IT guys does it take to change a light bulb?

None. That's a hardware problem! Besides, if you leave your house and come back in again, 3 times out of 4, the light bulb will be working!

That might be the understatement of the year.

Were we supposed to laugh at that?

Have you never noticed how few conservative humorists, comics or cartoonists there are who are actually funny? P.J. O'Rourke, end of list, and he was a lot funnier in his National Lampoon days. Rodriguez is not funny. Dennis Miller is not funny. Mallard Fillmore is not funny. Donald Trump is a clown, but is never funny intentionally.

I don't disagree some movies or TV shows had a message but I think most the studios just want eyeball on the screen. Could you give two or three examples of non message films that had a hidden agenda. Politely asking.

Tim Allen is funny.

Jeff Foxworthy is funnier...

If no one you know has ever purchased a gun, you might be a Liberal.

"Women now have choices. They can be married, not married, have a job, not have a job, be married with children, unmarried with children. Men have the same choice we've always had: work, or prison."

Tim Allen:D

I discussed this with some people today and they voted Daniel the bad guy and Johnny the good guy.

Foxworthy is funny, but he isn't really political. Redneck jokes are nonpartisan (though I daresay he could coin a few good ones about Trump voters if he were so inclined).

But I thought you weren't gonna tell anyone darn it.

Now the secret's out. tssss :caning:

This is the Lit. Everyone punishes Percy, waxes the dolphin, makes Moby Dick spout, and fights the War of the Priests (five against one, and that one a Bishop).

This is an honest question. Why are rednecks considered fair game for making fun of. How about gays that put the flamboyant gays persona that put their lifestyle in your face.

Those Chinese people that speak in broken english that seem so stereotypical but we are not allowed to imitate. Because that is bad.

I feel there are some people assuming that redneck culture is fixed and there could not be any degree of separation between rednecks. They feel comfortable assuming that every stereotype they have ever seen is true
