Climate continues to change.

If we are going to get blamed for everything we might as well be given the chance to run everything.

The Canschluss is coming. Resistance is futile. Prepare to be USsimilated.

Have no fear we are multi-cultural. You will not be forced to assimilate beyond wearin the proper hockey jersey for your region.

Canada is actually predicted in the bible.

Psalm 72:8 in the Bible:
"Et dominabitur a mari usque ad mare, et a flumine usque ad terminos terrae"
(King James Bible: "He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth").

What better country to rule things. Would you deny the word of Bog?

That is weather not climate. You are held back a year for failing the course.

Sorry, I know the definition of climate:

cli·mate
ˈklīmit/Submit
noun
the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.
"our cold, wet climate"
synonyms: weather conditions, weather; atmospheric conditions
"the mild climate"
a region with particular prevailing weather conditions.
"vacationing in a warm climate"
synonyms: region, area, zone, country, place; literaryclime
"they come from a colder climate"

Since an eon is a billion years, you are correct. However, we do have ocean acidity records for the past 300 million years.

What was that about significant figures, again?

You STILL do not know what the term "significant figures" means.

Apparently not, since you routinely equate it with weather.

I agree, but you replied to the wrong poster. Our beneficient host, Phrodeau, is the one who routinely has that misunderstanding. He regularly posts record for local weather as evidence the the climate of the planet has changed.

The IPCC believes a change of 1-3 degrees Celsius is significant enough to cause changes.

"The IPCC predicts that increases in global mean temperature of less than 1.8 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit (1 to 3 degrees Celsius) above 1990 levels will produce beneficial impacts in some regions and harmful ones in others. Net annual costs will increase over time as global temperatures increase."

I am old enough to remember when the scientist told is we were about to enter the new ice age about 40 years ago and what we should do to prevent it. This was not some off the wall tiny research. Time magazine made it the front cover and listed a lot of scientific data. The ice age was something to worry about

The writer of the article lately has admitted he was wrong but his prediction was based on the best science of the time. Which turned out to be totally wrong. Now he is worried about global warming because the science now says it's true. Really, really it's true this time.

Geeze. The gym teacher too?

S I G N I F I C A N T F I G U R E S does not mean interesting or meaningful figures.

Did none of take a statistics, physics or chemistry class?

That shit again?

Scientists noticed that historically, the world had been heading towards an ice age.[52] A minority of scientists in the 1970s and earlier also predicted that the pollution would have cooling effect due to increased cloud cover from factories and other emissions. This actually is a thing and does throw a bit of a curveball into the models and appropriate course of action. For example, after 9/11 global air traffic more or less shut down, and the lack of contrails led to the discovery that airplane contrails act to stabilize air temperature throughout the day[53]. The real world is complicated,[citation NOT needed] and people use science to discover how it works. As such, scientific knowledge marches ever forward, and obviously the world has been warming. But the few works published have been enough for "climate skeptics" to strip mine for quotes.

Trotting out the global cooling trope is sometimes called the ice age fallacy.

Did you take an English class?

You might want to explain what you're talking about and how it is relevant.

No, it means when your calculations produce a figure with a large number of digits to the right of the decimal point, you should disregard as unimportant all but the first two or three. Irrelevant here.

Are you sure? Did he see that he typed it in all caps? It must be super relevant if he typed it in all caps.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-global-cooling-story-came-to-be/

You recall poorly. It was a small article in Newsweek, not the cover story of Time. It was published in 1975.

At the time, aerosols with CFC were legal and destroying the ozone layer. Lead was a serious contaminant worldwide from gasoline additives, and catalytic converters were just beginning to appear in cars. The ban on DDT had just taken effect. Skylab was hanging overhead, just a few years before it would crash. That was the level of science at the time.

Hey I agree global cooling was honestly presented as the best science at the time. Now global warming is represented by the best science at the current time.
