My state's Attorney General has stated he will protect illegal aliens. He is not going to enforce the laws SWORE he would. I wonder why he picked this particular crime to overlook. Is not "equal justice under the law" a foundation of our democracy? If I need money and I make an "undocumented withdrawal" from a bank, why should I be prosecuted?

State AG swears to uphold state laws. Immigration is a federal issue.

There's nothing stopping the Feds from enforcing immigration laws, and if state authorities impeded them, that would indeed be a problem. You know damn well why your state's AG is refusing to do the Feds' dirty work for them, and equating bank robbery with illegal immigration is patently absurd.

When there are legal avenues available for immigrants to obtain entry into the US and citizenship, defending illegal immigration is damned absurd, actually.

And if you can't afford to renew your visa or return to your country, do you just hide?

They normally take an oath saying something like this, "...defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State..."

Citation? Or are you just making it up? (By the way, a presidential Executive Order isn't a law of the United States.)

I probably don't disagree with you much on this point. I do think there's a difference between legal and illegal immigration and the illegal immigrants shouldn't just get a pass and all the rights/protection, but, basically, I'm struck by the two-faced approach of the Trump gang on this. They say they want to return rights/control to the states, but not really.

The state AGs aren't flouting U.S. law simply because they aren't knuckling under to presidential Executive Orders. Those aren't U.S. laws and they haven't been established as constitutionally supported yet. The Courts decide what's constitutional and what isn't. First you have to have actual laws and then you have to test them in court and then you can start talking about fulfilling oaths to defend the federal Constitution (as opposed to state constitutions) and U.S. law.

And how many days did you wander in the desert without food or water just so your child wouldn't get his or her head chopped off by a drug cartel?

If you think about it, it's not absurd at all. An illegal immigrant has circumvented all the safeguards our laws have established to protect it's citizens. They have not been vetted for criminal background or diseases. They've bypassed those who respect our laws and are waiting to immigrate legally. They will likely need support supplied by the American taxpayer once they get here. People try to sanitize illegal immigration, but I think it is a serious problem.

You do know that the number of illegal immigrants in the US has been declining for a few years now, right?

Yes I do. That's great.
My original issue was about my State's attorney general refusal to cooperate with Federal authorities regarding issues with illegal immigrants. I can't understand why, as an attorney general he would overlook the fact that an individual broke a law. I could understand if for philosophical reasons he did not want to be pro-active on this issue? But he's issuing advice to other state agencies on how to insulate the illegals. I don't feel that's right.

Then don't vote for him next time. You folk vote for AGs right?

And if we don't secure the border, how long will it be before the drug cartels are chopping off your kid's heads?

You don't chop off your potential clients heads .it's bad business practice .

Yes, I do understand that your world and that of Trump is obsessed with total selfishness.

Selfish is the last word people would use to describe me. I'm independent and self reliant, but I would give you the shirt off my back. Selfishness doesn't mean what you think it means. Understanding borders and national security are not synonymous with selfishness.

But you do not understand borders and national security.
