Personally I say don't let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out.

But, I am not sure if they have that right....um or left as the case may be.

Getting back in may not be so easy.

Hope you like anarchy motherfuckers!

You live in Texas, the whiniest cunts in the nation have been trying it there for decades. In fact, most of the country would be at war with that shithole if it wasn't part of the Union.

Yes BUT, we have the right to leave the Union if we want to bad enough.

This is really sad news. That one person can divide a country so far that people want to leave it! It would be a huge hit to our economy if they did. The exit of Silicon Vally alone would cause major issues. It might make Trump reconsiter the immigration laws, though. I mean, is he not going to let people who still want to be Americans in? It poses a lot of questions.
If one looks back historicly it does not bode well for anyone on these shores.

Our fruits and veggies will cost us more if Colorado hikes the water rates.

About as likely to happen as when Texas wanted to leave under Obama.....

Damn presidents always dividing the country.

Wait... you think maybe it just politics as always?

But let's pretend they did. Trump would be about as likely to let them walk as Ab let let the south walk.

It would just be a much quicker war.

Let's just play devils avocate here for a sec. If Cali does leave they have tech, food and if they make friends with Mexico, allies. They even have large numbers. They have all the infrastructure they need. They have those willibg to contribute millions to their cause. And let me know if i am wrong on this but I recall Cali being a territory at one point. Then it belonged to Mexico. Hmmm. I need to fact check that but I thought a large stretch of the South west was once one huge territory that included TX.

Playing along with the notion that they might even be allowed......

Before those fruits and veggies can be imported there would have to be a trade agreement in place. And we'll assume that will cover the energy they're going to have to import.

I would think that DC would allow for some window of 'grace' time for those corporations that would want to move their corporate operations to the US.

I wonder what nations the new minted country would want to sign defense agreements with?

Then, of course, there are those counties in CA. that may want to secede from the state and remain part of the Union. Whose to say they can't? If the state can secede from the Union then surely the counties can secede from the state. And what is the governor going to do to stop them? Send in the State Guard? I'm quite certain that DC will want to retain the military equipment that the Guard was furnished. I suppose they could charge in to those counties in their Prius's armed with their CA compliant personal firearms.

Hormones trumping logic.

So many angles, aren't there?

The criminal inhumanity which has plagued the United States from its very constitutional conception is its despicable betrayal of its revolutionary political principle of individual liberty in preference for totally contradictory, collective union.

For over 225 years now we've had countless opportunities to self-cure ourselves, yet even when the most infamous opportunity to date occurred - the War Between the States - we squandered the individual freedom won immediately back into preference for the ominipotent statist quo.

There can be no such true thing as voluntary individual union if voluntary individual secession is prohibited by any majority, mob, or more powerful omnipotent force. There is no moral justification for any type of physical offense - unless you are a natural enemy of individual liberty.

Individual liberty would've been best served by slavery being outlawed immediately and outright in the Constitution itself. As that was not remotely feasible at that time, individual liberty would've been second best served then by the States going their separate No slavery/Slavery ways.

Individual liberty is exactly like a full, tall, clear glass of pure, refreshing water: whatever else you add to it pollutes it, and the more pollution that's added to it, the less individual liberty remains.

Lincoln should've let the Confederate States peacefully go their own ways: the total abolition of slavery in the US would've been achieved without a single shot being fired. But the glorious individual liberty that freedom from slavery is wasn't the concern of Lincoln, nor his statist compatriots: they were all about FORCEFULLY exerting the omnipotent power of collective government over all American individuals - just to keep that power in place.

There should not be a single vote of any degree of omnipotent collective power issued against the State of California if it somehow decides to leave the Union: its move into socialism has been long and steady - it really has nothing to offer others who value individual liberty more than mob rule collectivism.

The only uncompromising demand America should make of seceding socialist California is the same one it is currently demanding of California's whore of a socialist mother government: America will build the wall and make the socialists pay for it.

They have food for bit. Without water from Colorado they wouldn't have it for long.

Electricity would be a issue quickly as well.

Tech? They may have the man power but they make very little.

Mexico? Very little to add. In fact they would be a drain. Assuming Mexico would even take a side and give up over 200mill in foreign aid.

Maybe California can join with Illinois and form a third world country. :)

The peso has lost 50% of its worth during the term of its current, drug cartel-corrupt President, who currently sits with a 12% approval rating. Mexico itself sits at a very dangerous precipice, fantasizing of screwing more with America with one hand, while allowing their socialist neighbors to the south court them with their equally disingenuous other.

Socialist California allying with socialist Mexico would be nothing but a giant, beautiful, socialist fail. As each currently practices their own flavors of despicable, political collectivism, they are Marxistly perfect for each other.

Viva la lemmings!

Yup. They seem to think of themselves as a self-contained entity. They look at their economy and get all puffed up with themselves. I figure their economy would pretty much be in the toilet within less than a year.

I can just picture Gov. Moonbeam dressed in a Captain Crunch type uniform and proclaiming himself Grand Poobah for Life.

Oh no!
Where will all those narcissistic men and the peroxised and siliconised women go then?

Yes BUT, we have the right to leave the Union if we want to bad enough.

I've looked into that end everything on it says myth....

You can break up into smaller states and TX did get to keep some privileges that other states don't enjoy but you don't get to leave the union if you just don't feel like participating anymore.

If California leaves look for Oregon, Nevada & Washington to leave too.

Wanna play out the worst case?

The state, and all of it's citizens, will immediately be declared "in rebellion." Ports and all transportation arteries will immediately be seized. All major city halls and the state capital will be secured along with ALL records.

A military governor will be appointed and a process for re-entry to the Union be established.

During that period of time they will have no representation in the US Congress or the Senate. Nor will there be any votes in any federal election.

Sweet.
