Imbloc will be here, soon.

Dreary Winter, without the pain/pleasure of snow, here.

There is disorder and chaos, because of the lack of respect and consideration.

*sigh*

There is wholesome opposition to negative influences.

I am thankful that it was possible to have a peaceful, loving, and happy sharing during the 2017 Women's March.

Is it not strange, that the militarized police were not invited to be brutal and oppressve?

Was there no faint light, to follow after dire warnings ?

He gave unguarded interviews warning of a fascist backlash and sneering that

“people aren’t very bright, you know. They say they want freedom, but when they get the chance, they pass up Nietzsche and choose Hitler..."-because he’d march into a room to speak, and music and lights would come on at strategic moments. It was rather like a rock’n’roll concert.”

By then, Bowie had explored the contradictions of celebrity (Aladdin Sane, 1973), made a dystopian concept album based on George Orwell's 1984 (Diamond Dogs, 1974), reinvented himself as a blue-eyed soul singer (Young Americans, 1975), tentatively embraced electronic experimentation on Station to Station (1976) and emerged, on Low and Heroes, both released in 1977 as punk challenged rock's old guard, as an experimental art-rocker without peer.

David Bowie travelled to Russia. What did he see there, that had changed his outlook ?

Indoctrination is meant to change someone.

A cult, is a cult, is a cult...

Ex-Christian from Duggar cult explains why we should be more afraid of Mike Pence than Trump

Right-wing Christians have wanted someone like Pence in the White House for years, but a hardline religious conservative hasn’t even been able to win the GOP primary — until Trump emerged as a blank slate with no real principles beyond his own self-aggrandizement.

They know Trump is easily manipulated and will change his mind with the wind if it makes him feel more powerful and famous,” Darkwater wrote. “Trump couldn’t care less about policy, a fact he’s made quite obvious. The Right has given a tyrant power and fame; he will do whatever they want him to do in order to keep it.”

With Trump apparently willing to sign anything Pence and congressional Republicans hand him, Darkwater wrote, right-wing Christians see an opportunity to finally take over the U.S. government with an army of homeschooled religious extremists.

Look what happened to the arts in Russia.
State approved art, ceased to be art.

If you do not have the words, you cannot speak of the meaning, of what you mean to express.

State approved language, state approved ideas.

Russia has never been the friendliest environment for political dissent, and beginning with Vladimir Putin’s return to the presidency in 2012, the situation has only grown more challenging. Since that time, Russia has raised fines for taking part in unauthorized protests, tightened state control over the media and non-governmental organizations and cracked down on opposition websites.

"It was all about illusions and making sure that the political opposition will never unite against him. Official opposition played by the rules imposed by Kremlin. It was all about creating some form of political capital, and then exchanging it with the Kremlin for some benefit within the system."

Every year he has been gradually reducing the space of political freedom in Russia. [In] 2001, attacks on the free press. Next two years, he replaced independent or semi-independent central key stations with cronies. Then the limitations for the election process in 2004, he cancelled the direct elections of the governors. It was a steady process, and then gradually limitations in the Russian legislation, and then in the penal code, measures to prevent the open demonstrations and criticism of the government. There’s no one milestone. It was a steady process … And eventually, when you look at the results of Putin’s rule today, almost everything that aims at criticizing the government is a criminal offense.

In an interview with the New York Times on Wednesday night, White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon derided the mainstream press for its criticisms of the new administration. From the Times:

“The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for awhile,” Mr. Bannon said during a telephone call.

“You’re the opposition party,” Bannon continued. “Not the Democratic Party. You’re the opposition party.”

Hooray for spring!!! Hurry up wam weather, please come back, we miss you.

<sigh> ...and there you go. You had to fuck up a great thread by bringing up that sexist march. And yeah, the overly-weaponized cops were so laid back that they didn't even intervene when feminazis were attacking other people for daring to think differently.

Steve Bannon needs to recognize where his paycheck comes from, and start respecting the First Amendment. Or, as Eugene Robinson said, "I don't need Steve Bannon's permission to do my job."

Newspaper stands, book stores, convenience stores, drug stores, all carried the Village Voice.I started reading the paper, when I was a teen.

Whole Foods carried the Village Voice, before Texas bullied Bread and Circus out of business. Now, they only carry Texas Christian approved papers and magazines. :(

I have been using the Village Voice as a source for political articles.I would have used the Boston Phoenix, but the Right Wing did not like their dirty laundry exposed to the public, and they were forced out.

Earlier this year, I read many old articles about how Trump and his family procured all of that property and money.

A short tweet by Tom Robbins, about Wayne Barrett

On the drive to the hospital where he breathed his last, Wayne Barrett was still doing interviews for a big, tough story on Donald Trump.

Wayne Barrett: A Brilliant New York Beacon and Political Warrior for Justice

by Tom Robbins

The evening before he became the nation's most powerful Democratic official last week, Chuck Schumer pecked out a couple of tweets in honor of a veteran city journalist who had breathed his last just an hour earlier. "If Heaven has a flaw, we'll find out soon," wrote the minority leader of the United States Senate. "Wayne Barrett will have a detailed, impactful story on it in a wk." Barrett, he added moments later, was "a brilliant NY beacon, cleaning up our politics."

Wayne Barrett Exposed the Real Trump. Now There's Only One Way to Honor Him

Remembering the legendary Village Voice reporter who launched an army of muckraking

"I worked for Wayne when Rudy Giuliani was making his last serious stab at a presidential bid, and we spent a lot of time running down new stories on the candidate. His campaign had looked formidable early on, but hizzoner flamed out spectacularly and retreated into private consulting."

Was it bittersweet, I asked Wayne? His white whale, the subject of years of his life's work, was finished and never coming back.

Wayne laughed. It was the laugh of a man who wasn't about to retire from the truth-digging, shit-kicking business, no matter how good or bad it might get. "He'll come back, man," he said. "These guys always come back."

The fun part, Wayne said, was that the good guys came back, too.

The Village Voice. That explains why you're a first class wacko

I'm thankful that politics will always remain divided and therefore balance will be maintained.

I'm thankful I have a convection oven and my cookies bake up lighter than ever.

I'm thankful Zagg makes awesome screen protectors and after dropping my iphone...on tile...face down...twice, I didn't crack my screen, just the protector, phew!

I'm thankful my poinsettias from Christmas resisted my attempts to kill them. All but 2 made it. Survival of the fittest.

I'm thankful I live in a country where my opinion may not matter, but it won't get me stoned to death, beheaded, thrown in a dungeon, maimed until I retract it or beaten by my husband because I opened my mouth without permission.

We do not have much of a bullshitters collection in Boston.
We have trolls that scribble horrible slogans and leave leaflets on university property.

Boston University has been targeted.

We do not tolerate intolerance.

A thousand university students confront one of Trump's scumbag trolls.

http://news.berkeley.edu/2017/01/26/chancellor-statement-on-yiannopoulos/

Although we have responded to these requests directly, we would like to explain to the entire campus community why the event will be held as planned. First, from a legal perspective, the U.S. Constitution prohibits UC Berkeley, as a public institution, from banning expression based on its content or viewpoints, even when those viewpoints are hateful or discriminatory. Longstanding campus policy permits registered student organizations to invite speakers to campus and to make free use of meeting space in the Student Union for that purpose. As mentioned, the BCR is the host of this event, and therefore it is only they who have the authority to disinvite Mr. Yiannopoulos. Consistent with the dictates of the First Amendment as uniformly and decisively interpreted by the courts, the university cannot censor or prohibit events, or charge differential fees. Some have asked us whether attacks on individuals are also protected. In fact, critical statements and even the demeaning ridicule of individuals are largely protected by the Constitution; in this case, Yiannopoulos’s past words and deeds do not justify prior restraint on his freedom of expression or the cancellation of the event.

Event canceled FEBRUARY 1, 2017

UC Berkeley and the UCPD went to extraordinary lengths to plan for this event and put the appropriate resources in place in order to maintain security. Officials were in contact with other campuses and paid close attention to lessons learned at the speaker’s prior events. Dozens of additional police officers were on duty. Multiple methods of crowd control were in place. Ultimately, and unfortunately, however, it was simply impossible to maintain order given the level of threat, disruption and violence.

Alameda County sheriff’s deputies and Berkeley police officers responded to the university for crowd control.

Not much animal cruelty of wild animals around Boston.

Surprised at how many swans are injured by air guns in the UK.
Month, after month, cunts hurt the swans, kill the swans, but the police never catch the sadists.

The Queen of England's Swans

Vandalism remains a constant threat to swan numbers and is one of the primary causes of fatalities among mute swans and young cygnets together with fishing tackle injuries. The number of vandal attacks has continued to increase over the past year. Shootings with air rifles and catapults cause horrific injuries, unnecessary suffering and slow deaths.

Swan Upping
A flotilla of traditional Thames rowing skiffs, manned by Swan Uppers in scarlet rowing shirts and headed by The Queen’s Swan Marker, wearing a hat with a white swan’s feather, row their way steadily up the Thames. ‘All up!’ they cry as a family of swans and cygnets is spotted, and the Swan Uppers carefully position their boats around the swans, lift them from the water and check their health. The Swan Marker’s iconic five-day journey upriver has been an annual ceremony for hundreds of years, and today it has two clear goals: conservation and education.

The History of Swan Upping

As early as the twelfth century, the Crown claimed ownership of all mute swans in the country because the birds were highly valued as a delicacy at banquets and feasts. In the fifteenth century The Worshipful Company of Dyers and The Worshipful Company of Vintners were given the right to own swans on the River Thames. They have maintained their swan marks to the present day and therefore share ownership of mute swans on the River Thames with The Queen.

We have a pair of swans that live on the Boston Common. They are beloved.
They get the best veterinarian care. The Swan boats are to honor them. We look forward to when it is warm enough, to return them to the pond.

Ricky Gervais is brilliant when he wants to be.

"That tweet deserves a knighthood."

I did not want to watch the Super Bowl, because I was anxious about the Patriots. "Unfortunate events" seem to occur, when the stakes are so high.

Perhaps, they did not want to incur the wrath of Emperor Caligula Carrot. Brady tried to stay out of politics. But, Caligula Carrot wanted to use Brady for attention.

Tom Brady's stolen Super Bowl jersey sparks police investigation

February 6, 2017

Following New England’s stunning 34-28 Super Bowl LI overtime win against the Falcons at Houston’s NRG Stadium Sunday night, Brady’s game-used No. 12 Patriots jersey went missing, and the five-time Super Bowl champion signal-caller was none too happy to find out the news when he was seated at his locker after the game.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick was promising top law enforcement personnel were going to get to the bottom of the alleged theft.

“In Texas we place a very high value on hospitality and football. Tom Brady’s jersey has great historical value and is already being called ‘the most valuable NFL collectable ever.’ It will likely go into the Hall of Fame one day. It is important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas. I’ve called Colonel Steve McCraw to ask that the Texas Rangers work with the Houston Police Department on this case,” Patrick said in a statement on his website. “I’m a Texans and Cowboys fan first, but the unquestionable success of the Super Bowl in Houston last night was a big win for our entire state and I don’t want anything to mar that victory. Whoever took this jersey should turn it in. The Texas Rangers are on the trail.”

When Falcons cornerback Robert Alford picked off Tom Brady and ran the ball back for a score, the images that remained looked like a Patriots defeat.

In fact, the Boston Globe used the image of Brady laying on the ground while Alford ran by him as their early-edition cover with the headline, "A Bitter End."

Even Tom Brady found it funny as he posted images of the failed tackle to Instagram with some hilarious captions.

Two New England Patriots say they will refuse Trump's White House invite

Devin McCourty has become the second New England Patriots player to confirm he will not accept an invitation to the White House from Donald Trump.

Tight end Martellus Bennett said on Sunday he would decline the president’s customary invitation for the Super Bowl winners, and McCourty followed suit by saying: “I can’t imagine a way I go there.”

When the Patriots went to meet President Obama at the White House in 2015, after winning Super Bowl XLIX, Brady wasn’t there.

I'm thankful the Democrat Party is imploding to the point Republicans no longer feel they have to cross the aisle to get anything done. All that's left on that side are a small national smudge of triggered fanatics packed into safe spaces screaming for mom, slapping their tits, and gouging their assholes bloody in frustration. It's pitiful really.
