My point was (since others failed to understand) that the OP's joke wasn't primarily about fat shaming. I generally don't like picking on people's appearance either, so I wouldn't have laughed if that was the primary intent.

I interpreted that joke less literally, in that it was more about making fun of a mindless frame of mind.
