How ironic is it that America whines so much about being hacked?

When its federal government is the greatest hacker on the planet of other governments and corporations, and citizens in every nation - including its own?

Shhhh - its a secret.

LOL - yeah, the whole thing one of the things that leaves me dumbfounded. I think "uh, you realize we monitor every single thing we can and routinely launch cyber attacks on countries and entities we oppose right? And you know we routinely try to influence the elections of other countries - sometimes covertly, sometimes overtly. Did you miss the entire story of Obama going to England and threatening that there will be consequences if they vote for Brexit? You do know that State overtly funded intervention in Isreal's election by sending both money and consultants to the opposition party right?"

Today, in testimony on Capitol Hill:

"Russia is a full-scope cyber actor that poses a major threat to U.S. government, military, diplomatic, commercial and critical infrastructure," James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, Marcel Lettre, Undersecretary of Defense for intelligence, and Admiral Michael Rogers, director of the National Security Agency, said in joint testimony prepared for a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Simply substitute "The United States" for "Russia" and "Russian" for "U.S" and the statement is as at least as equally - factually - true.

Why are these spies whining so loudly and so much when they do the exact same thing they're whining so much and so loudly about?

No nation on earth spies on other governments more than the US, no nation on earth involves itself, covertly and overtly, in other governments' business, no nation on earth digitally intrudes on more world computers systems than the US, no nation on earth captures, analyzes and records the digital information of as many world citizens as the US - why does it whine so loudly and so much when others ape them?

On March 12, 2013, during a United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing, Senator Ron Wyden quoted the keynote speech at the 2012 DEF CON by the director of the NSA, Keith B. Alexander. Alexander had stated that "Our job is foreign intelligence" and that "Those who would want to weave the story that we have millions or hundreds of millions of dossiers on people, is absolutely false…From my perspective, this is absolute nonsense." Senator Wyden then asked Clapper, "Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?" He responded "No, sir." Wyden asked "It does not?" and Clapper said "Not wittingly. There are cases where they could inadvertently, perhaps, collect, but not wittingly."[30]

When Edward Snowden was asked during his January 26, 2014 TV interview in Moscow what the decisive moment was or why he blew the whistle, he replied: "Sort of the breaking point was seeing the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, directly lie under oath to Congress. … Seeing that really meant for me there was no going back."[31]

Two U.S. representatives accused Clapper of perjury for telling a congressional committee in March 2013, that the NSA does not collect any type of data at all on millions of Americans. One senator asked for his resignation, and a group of 26 senators complained about Clapper's responses under questioning. Media observers have described Clapper as having lied under oath, having obstructed justice, and having given false testimony.

The 5 Eyes organization is the largest surveillance network on the planet. We complain they eaves drop on their citizens, I can imagine how much we eaves drop on the rest of the world.

Thank God Mr. Clapper has already resigned

He's leaving when President Obama leaves.

Today on the Hill, the Director of National Intelligence even put his two cents worth in considering the growingly infamous "fake news" issue, blaming Russia for that, two:

Clapper noted that while much of the public focus over the past six months has been on Russian hacking of Democratic Party organizations, the Russian campaign of fake news, often promoted on social media, should not be overlooked. He pointed to Russia Today, also known as RT, a Russian-government-funded international television network that Clapper said is pushing a point of view “disparaging our system, our alleged hypocrisy about human rights.” Whether it was RT, “use of social media, fake news,” he said, “they exercised all of those capabilities in addition to the hacking.”

My, my, my: one of the most powerfully influential men in the most powerful political administration in the world, is now proclaiming "fake news" in the global free market place of ideas is some sort of actual threat to America's security? What is he so afraid of?

Does he really fantasize American patriots need him to discern the "news" for them, too? That they cannot id "fake news" as well as he fancies he can? Why must progressives naturally assume everyone else is as needy as they know they are without their Leviathanian collective?

So, what is the so-called "intelligence community"'s recommendation to meet such a dangerous, serious American threat? Why, of course, America must issue forth more "fake news" itself to battle the "fake news" they are trying to sell as such a threat:

Clapper said that to counter Russian propaganda, the United States should undertake a more aggressive counter-propaganda effort, something akin to a beefed-up U.S. Information Agency, which was dissolved in 1999.

Asked why that has not yet happened, National Security Agency Director Michael S. Rogers, who also testified Thursday, said, “I don’t think we’ve come yet to a full recognition of the idea that we’re going to have to try to do something fundamentally different.”

It's like:

What do you think we need to do to counter these illegal, devastating hack attacks, Mr. Clapper?

Why, Mr. Congressman, we of course need to exponentially increase our own illegal, devastating hack attacks, which are already perpetually at work covertly intruding into every government's digital systems.

And if Mr. Clapper's intentional, outright perjury under oath before Congress (see post #4) isn't enough to cement forever his repugnant disingenuousness toward the American people, read his answer today when his war mongering comrade John McCain served him up the ridiculously irrelevant softball of whether Mr. Clapper thinks "the campaign meddling was an attack on the United States and an “act of war,” including, obviously the typical deadly "act of war" weapon of "fake news":

Determining whether an action is an act of war is a “very heavy policy call that I don’t believe the intelligence community should make, but it certainly would carry, in my view, great gravity,” Clapper said.

His natural disingenuousness of pseudo-humbly pseudo-fendng off such "heavy" responsibly is instantly exposed by his "but", which reveals he actually does think, because of his "great gravity" "view", Russia has committed "an act of war" against America.

An "act of war" is perhaps the most serious charge one nation can make against another, such a serious charge that - if true - President Obama should immediately petition Congress to declare war on Russia for its "act of war" attacks.

This, more than anything, proves the hollow bluster this entire episode is all about: a crew of war mongering, career authoritarians, Obama and Clapper, McCain and Graham, progressives and conservatives alike, charging an "act of war" against another country - but not having anywhere near enough actual balls to carry out their constitutional duty if their bluster was, in fact, the actual case.

America doesn't need any posers anywhere in its government who proclaim an "act of war" has most definitely been committed against the US, yet have absolutely no intention of answering that "act of war" with what, in reality, it merits.

Thus, they expose themselves as not only allowing an "act of war" to go unworthily met head on, they also contribute to the concrete emboldening of future "act of war" entities who smell despicable weakness for the utter failure it is.

The midget man in North Korea has gotta love this latest "act of war" bluster.

Move to Russia and ask that again in a few years. I can be a bleeding heart liberal and still think that the world would be better off if it adopted the democratic forms and liberties as exemplified by the 5 Eyes. With more emphasis on the 4 non-Yank countries.

Here's the "anonymous sources" leaked edition of what the "intelligence community" delivered to President Obama yesterday and will present to President-elect Trump later this morning, direct from the pages of CIA Operation Mockingbird veteran, The Washington Post:

U.S. intercepts capture senior Russian officials celebrating Trump win
https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...4ab630851e8_story.html?utm_term=.af0e78b9e694

Isn't it grand that this report is no doubt eyes only Top Secret, yet "U.S. officials" freely leak the gist of it to the most progressive newspaper in America, who are known perps of printing "fake news" (and when outed on it don't even care enough to professionally retract), as the "intelligence community" sets before the People the exact narrative they desire?

And isn't it beautiful that our federal government's "intelligence community" is so hacked into the very top levels of Russian government that they can so easily gather such alleged incriminating evidence, as the Director of Intelligence once again intentionally and disingenuously misleads the People away from the truth:

Clapper on Thursday said there is a difference between “an act of espionage, which we conduct, as well, and other nations do, versus an attack.”

The questions to Mr. Clapper then would be:

Are you asserting, under oath, that we do not - using your word - "attack", other nations, Mr. Clapper?

And if one considers this "attack" of Russia's on America an "act of war, what would you call our relative attacks on other countries, Mr. Clapper?

Why, Mr. Clapper, it's almost as if you are asserting that it's acceptable that we almost unlimitedly attack other governments, while any nation attacking us in the same matter is committing an "act of war" against us. That's disgustingly RAH-RAH of you, Mr. Clapper. Wouldn't you agree that's the exact type of repugnant, chest-thumping and cheer leading nationalism America doesn't need today?

Next, Mr. Clapper, and I fully understand you're too pseudo-humble to genuinely answer the question directly and honestly, but in pontificating about the dire dangers to America's security from what you call "propaganda" and "fake news", why hasn't your "intelligence community" mentioned a word about whether all those emails allegedly hacked by the Russians are legit, i.e., not a word has been heard from your "intelligence community" whether the content of those emails is "propaganda" and/or "fake news"?

Why is that, Mr. Clapper?

And, do you imagine that if voters could revote today the charge of practically an "act of war" committed by Russia against America would outweigh the revealed content of those emails and the affect their perceived truth had on voters on November 8, 2016?

Finally, Mr. Clapper: if the truth was exposed by those emails being hacked and released, regardless of whomever is responsible for hacking and releasing them, what possible harm, what possible crime - let alone an "act of war" for crying out loud - could have been committed?

You're not actually championing that your views are more vital than truth, are you Mr. Clapper?

Mr. Clapper?

[All sincere apologies to you personally, Mr. Clapper. But no matter how hard I try and no matter how much I patriotically desire to, I simply do not believe anymore much of what you offer. And because of that, I am very happy that in exactly two weeks you will no longer hold any position in the federal government.)

If anyone thinks that the US and every other government out there does not do its damnest to gather intelligence be it military, economic or diplomatic about another nation, friend or foe. You are living in a fantasy land. And if you think your government should halt such practices think about learning Russian or Chinese because you are going to need it. Why not just completely get rid of any standing army to while your at it.

When it came to Israel, the Obama Administration did not even try to hide its effort to sway the election...

... and that was probably the above water calm of a swimming duck.

The hacking has been going on for years but it didn't become an issue until Trump won the election...just another in a series of lies and corruption from Barry's failed regime.

Of course we do it too. So what? The issue is: What happens when one is caught.

Retaliation is as much about public embarrassment highlighting the ineptitude as it is about tangible results.

What, WaPo? I think not.

Not only does the USA interfere with as many elections in other countries as it can, but the security forces lie about all of its activities.

'Muricans call this 'patriotism'.

The funny thing is the Russian activity (if it was), was released to Wikileaks, where it would have stayed unremarked for ever except that it was publicised by the US press.

So it's the US press acting as agents for Russia that won it for Trump.

Russian operation hacked a Vermont utility, showing risk to U.S. electrical grid security, officials say
https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...483655972852&tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.101c77a034bc

What's amusing about the article's intentional propaganda is that it took lengthy, constant online shaming before TWP finally attached this "Editor's note" to its "fake news" story:

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Russian hackers had penetrated the U.S. electric grid. Authorities say there is no indication of that so far. The computer at Burlington Electric that was hacked was not attached to the grid.

I like that, "Authorities say there is no indication of that so far" part, especially the "Editor's" intentionally disingenuous inclusion of "so far", as if that's still a possibility, when - IN FACT - there never was any "indication" at all. That's simply and definitively FALSE REPORTING, with the "Editor" choosing to mislead further.

The entire story's primary premise - from it's false inception continuing to the literal end of its "Editor's Note" - that any "hack" at all took place - let alone by the Russians - is ENTIRELY BOGUS.

This rag piece is prototypical "fake news", purposely fabricated by an organization which is on record as willfully and greatly colluding with the CIA to pimp propaganda to its readers with the intent to falsely influence viewpoints the world over. And the traitorous (to printing only the truth as best they can) Post followed its marching orders again by running it at the height of the recent Russiagate deal, with no other purpose than to further mislead the American public.

- has anyone else read "Russiagate" to moniker this whole deal? I haven't. Surely with all the almost blanket coverage this issue's received, someone had to print it before.

Trump Asks Congress To Investigate Source Of News Report On Russian Election Hacking:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...s-russian-hacking_us_586fcb31e4b099cdb0fcdb61

I am asking the chairs of the House and Senate committees to investigate top secret intelligence shared with NBC prior to me seeing it.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2017

How did NBC get “an exclusive look into the top secret report he (Obama) was presented?” Who gave them this report and why? Politics!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 6, 2017

Why President-elect Trump, progressive NBC News simply regurgitated what the CIA puppet The Washington Post illegally leaked, as I'd already pointed out above.

Wall of words...

Everyone does it. Get caught, get outed unless you manage it backchannel.

When Frofro sees the WP article mentioned above he'll demand evidence and data that they deliberately lied.

I'm no longer speculating on whose reincarnation you might be, but your posts crack me up! :D
