My younger brothers and I currently have a plan with Golden Rule. Because of their current medical conditions and the fact that I'm poor to begin with, we can't afford good insurance, and our deductibles are sky high, not to mention the premiums to begin with.

Previously, I payed about 110 per person (3 total) for limited coverage and prescription plans. Over the past few years, my rates have risen to about 550 each. You can say, that's bullshit, that would never happen, blah blah blah, but this is my reality. They are currently being vetted for SSI, so hopefully they will qualify for medicaid soon, but do not pretend for a moment that you know a damn thing about my situation, cunt.

I have allergies, and needed a hernia operation when I was able to both get covered AND I did not have to wait on preexisting condition exemptions. So, yes,, I call that affordable.

Are you your brother's guardians? What state are you in? Are you buying insurance throught the ACA insurance exchange? Much of people's "problems" with the ACA stem from their state choosing to NOT allow many companies to participate in the exchanges. A good friend of mine lives in North Carolina. He told me that this is the FIRST YEAR that the N.C, exchange has more than one company participating. In my state there are tons of companies participating, and creating cost effective options for the citizens.

The way the exchanges work, is you pump in the numbers and circumstance and they evaluate a tax credit that is applied to you monthly bill. I might be worth spending some time on healthcare.gov to see of you might be better served.
