Are there any comments about your stories that have been especially memorable?

I'm a longtime reader but new author. As a reader, I never paid much attention to votes or comments. But when I started writing and contributing stories I started paying attention to votes and comments for the first time. I scrolled through threads in this forum on the ins and outs of how voting works, about comments and trolls, and in particular about the hazards of contributing stories in the "Loving Wives" category. Until I started reading this forum I had never heard or read the term "BTB."

My first story, a short, rush job, did fine, scoring-wise. My second story, which was longer and which I took a lot of time to write and submitted in the BDSM category, did well. But for my third story, I decided, after my research into "BTB", and the apparently rather contentious conflict between the "cuckold" and "BTB" camps in the Loving Wives category, to write and submit a silly spoof of a BTB story, in an over-the-top, mock-noirish style. It seemed like a great idea at the time.

Well. I did not know what I was getting into.

Some people liked my story and thought it was amusing.

Some other people -- lots of people, actually -- not so much.

Here are some of the comments I got for my story:

This isn't a novel take on anything. It's shit

Now you've ruined all Mike Hammer stories for me , Happy with yourself ?

illiterate cuck shit.

What a pile of rubbish.

A piece of CRAP!!!!!

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Here eat my used condom.

my god this was bad.

So wrong. Not good. Not good at all.

It's been a long time since I've read a piece of shit like this.

On the one hand, it's somewhat sobering to have so many people tell you they hate what you've written. On the other hand, I'm kind of impressed and amused at the fact they stuck it out and chose to write comments. And the comments themselves . . . well, they don't hold back, but they are entertaining.

Anyone else have memorable comments about their stories? Good or bad?

For the most part the comments I get are positive. I stay in EC though so that might be why. I'm not writing in Incest, Non Con or LW and those seem to be the ones that get more of the negative comments.

I have had a few I didn't understand, and got one negative one that I let get to me, and I replied which I wish I hadn't done.
Still to this day I think their comment was stupid because they even said they skimmed my story fast, and they commented on a key element and got that wrong because they skimmed it!
I would have taken their comment better if they had actually read the story.
Ok the comment wasn't stupid, everyone has their opinion, I think it was stupid of them to comment and complain about stuff and they didn't read the story!.

I get almost no comments, and rarely look for them. I've never had a useful comment.

I had one guy comment on a D/s story and state the two male characters were secretly gay and into each other instead of their respective girls. Trust me when I say that's not how I write. It was the funniest and strangest comment I've seen. He started making other strange comments too, and in the end I deleted them all because he was bringing down the value of the neighborhood.

I had one email a couple years back offering to show me pictures of a cousin of his who was 1) underage and 2) had been abused, possibly raped. He wanted me to make a story out of it. To this day I'm moderately sure it was another author here who was trying to prove I was into underage. Instead of replying, I forwarded the email to the FBI. I'm sure nothing ever came of that, but in my dreams the asshole (whether genuine or fictional) had to answer some questions.

I had one woman tell me in comments that I was misogynistic, until she read Angelwatch, and then she posted an apology. (I think I left those comments up.) She doesn't like what most of my stories have to say but she admitted to getting off to them repeatedly. Since one of my aims in writing is to explore why what we think of as wrong can be so incredibly hot, I took that as higher praise than perhaps she intended.

One author here read one of my more sci-fi-ish stories, which happened to cover a topic in her real-life area of expertise, and gave me kudos for either having background in the field or at least doing good research. It was the latter and I smiled all week. When you get outside your area of expertise and get told by someone knowledgeable that you handled it well, that's an awesome feeling.

I've had my share of "oh my gosh this story describes me exactly, how do you know I think like this, I never told anyone!" emails. Those make me smile too. Also the set of comments where the reader assumed I was female because of how I handled my female characters. It's not every day I get called a sly minx because of a plot twist, or really for any reason. I loved that.

I got a thank you email from someone who discovered her sexual interests through my stories. We corresponded for a while, and she's just written to tell me she found the courage to explore a real life relationship with someone, and thanking me for the insights and support. No telling how that turns out, of course, but a real life HEA is a glorious thing.

The all-time favorites were the first few emails from the girl I love. You don't get details, but they were innocent and inquisitive, and I replied not knowing what I'd get back. What I got back, over time, has been life-changing.

I can't speak for incest or LW. I have a few stories in non-con and I've had a total of one negative comment, and later got an apology for that one. It's not the minefield you'd think.

People sometimes quote comments from LW in here (I never look there) and I have to say that it's amusing.

I don't find the bad comments very memorable. I usually just ignore that shit; I'm never interested if all someone has to contribute is a line or two of abuse. (By now I'm unsurprised to hear of LW being populated by so many freaks; IMO anyone who uses the word "cuck" as an insult is announcing themselves as a worthless shit-sack and should be dismissed. :D)

I got an interesting constructive criticism -- that was genuinely useful and thought-provoking, and may prompt me to do a run at a different version of the ending -- on one of my IR stories. I'd say that qualifies as one of my most memorable, and I'd love to have it happen more often.

Some instances:

1. Hilarious: I have a one-page essay titled Erotic Horror's Surprising Appeal, which one person read and commented:

"A waste of space
by Anonymous user
Horror is horror. What's new?"

Now, if s/he felt that way, why even read the piece, given its title?

2. Just nice, from Anonymous:

"Like a guided tour.

I have never been to any of those places if they even exist,,but I could see them and even feel the dive trip experience. I was even starting to see" Val". You are a good story teller,so please keep writing."

This story had done well, and had a very useful and extended critical comment posted (too long to reproduce here). But it was this short comment that stuck, because I put quite a bit of work into describing the setting and action. In fact, the more extended critical comment affirmed a suspicion that I went overboard, which eventually led me to write my thoughts in a How To piece on setting in erotic writing.

3. Useful: The comment below told me that more sadness seeped into another story than I had intended. A Freudian slip, perhaps.

"Bittersweet

I enjoyed your characters, even though they were sad.

They breathed... And neither had quite given up yet.

There was still hope."

I feel lucky - most comments I've received have been quite appreciative and polite, and encourage me to keep going. I am very grateful to all those readers.

Memorable comments?

"I hope your wife dies from aids and gives it to you." from anon

"With the prevalence of STDs like AIDS, how can you let your slut wife have sex with strangers. I hope you both die." from anon

As you can guess they are from idiots in LW who think fiction is true.

These are my two favourites, indicating I hit the mark....

"Fuck me long, love me hard. Omigosh! Exquisite. I needed this. Again!"

"Oh my. Original, fabulous and VERY effective. My response is considerable!"

This next one perplexed me, until someone explained that the University of Iowa runs one of the USA' s best known writing schools. I had to go look up Francis Ponge, I'd never heard of him. People get an MFA writing stuff like this? You're kidding! I consider it a great compliment, but I worry about the calibre of the MFA....

"Obviously, a MFA student at the U of IA in sum kinda creative writing. Who's into Francis Ponge and Sade."

Are there any comments about your stories that have been especially memorable? Good or bad?

Okay, you hooked me. I had to go thru and pull out the memorable ones.....

Good

GOSH...! I think you are disgusting and filthy and that you feel ashamed about writing such utter, utter depravity..! I also think I love you...!

Jesus Hayley! This girl continues to be full of surprises. Just as Steve discovered his creepy sleazy side, Hayley has tapped into her Old Faithful geyser of sexuality. Who's luckier? Barry or Joe? Hell, it doesn't matter, who WOULDN'T want to be with Hayley that night? It's one of those nights that you'd remember the entire rest of your life.

"Hi Chloe, I have read many hundreds of stories on here and often find myself speedreading past the irrelevant bits, or giving up half way if the story isn't going anywhere etc. I read every word of this, some of it twice, and automatically clicked on 5 and favorite author -my first ever! I have never been on a bike in my 60 years but by the end if it that was me riding away, waving to Chloe. I can't wait for chapter2".

Simply Awesome. From first word to last, I was captured and couldn't stop reading. More than a 1st time sex story, a human story excellently told. Thanks

The story reads as if you were here in my arms, pouring your heart out to me.

Holy fucking hell! I want to be Keith! Chloe, that's awesomely hot!

I'm rather pleased that Chloe's a small woman. Imagine how scary she would be if she was a large man. Loves guns, dwells on the extreme right of the political spectrum, practices Tae Kwon Do ... and that's just for starters. Apparently wrote a Loving Wives story because the comments left on the Interracial and First Time stories weren't outrageous enough.

....the fight scene was almost as good as the sex scenes.

What a beautiful and poignant love. I knew what was coming and it still broke my heart for her.

The best I've ever read

Damn you! How dare you make me cry?! My libido is now in mourning..... Asshole

Honestly I was just looking for porn but now I'm crying in a bathtub

You seduced me like a stealth fighter plane. The sex scenes were your usual graphic greatness, but it was the poignancy in the hospital, the emotional hit I was not expecting that pushes this story into unique territory here at Literotica.

Breath taking, yet tragic. Shakespearian. A wonderful tale full of love. You have gone over the top with this.

I give you 8 stars. Very well written. It's hard to write sex scene after sex scene and make them all as vibrant and erotic as the first but you managed it.

The perfect balance of shy and demanding, of gentle and hard, of scared and certain, all in a progression that feels completely true - beautiful!

I love you...Will you marry me?

Bad (I left these up coz they amuse me)

Just another gook slut how common. -1

chinky chink chink. does your vagina go sideways?

So now that they have every disease known to man? What's next? Spread it around to others? Just finish this garbage. It's simply awful.

Racist shit. Also kind of a rapey bitch, ain't you?

1 star From a frenchman who was quite enjoying it till you insulted my country and spoiled it. At least we're not all ass fuckers like the yanks!

A talentless hack Has to cheat in the scoring to get stories in the fours.

How about a couple of good ones for a change of pace? :)

Darkni, just wanted to say that I'm a long time reader, couple of years at least, and I believe that you are hands down the most talented erotic writer that I've come across. The worlds you construct are absolutely captivating. I love that you've placed many separate stories inside the main world somewhere along the timeline. I grew up on Baldurs Gate, so couldn't believe how well you portrayed that type of universe. I liked the Danica series that much, that I used your timeline and stitched together chronologically all of the stories into one ebook, including the covers, so that I could read them in the right order. I read all of Danica first, and instead of moving onto SOTM, I went right back to the beginning with Harvest of Blood. I'm up to Devan's Decision currently. Thank you very very much for what I can only imagine has been countless hours of writing. I truly hope that you continue to express yourself in this medium for many years to come.

And...

The story, Nude-Holly-Day, by Reject Reality was one of the most enjoyable, intense, well crafted, and even instructive stories I've ever encountered. While the biology-based eroticism is excellent in most of your stories, this one (Holly) was far beyond that. The Holly story was to regular good stories as color is to black-and-white because of the added layers in the story.
a. Honor and decency. The protagonist portrayed the best characteristics of respect and appreciation for the Holly character.
b. The caring he showed Holly added depth to the story far beyond the delightful eroticism.
c. The honor and care showed for the Holly character by the protagonist put this story into the top level of literature.
d. The details of the physical love-making functioned almost as a lesson for top-level love-making. Society would profit from this sort of story being made to be required reading for all high-schoolers.

I would give the Holly story a 10 if that were possible. If permissible, pass on my comments to the author, and know that I would give him a 5.

So far I haven't attracted any foaming haters, just this one:

Boring, redundant and it would have been nice if you included the "This is another slow-moving chapter with more talk than sex." comment in the description. reads like a childs book!

Some memorable nice comments, though:

I didn't think it was possible to be turned on and scared shitless at the same time.

...a huge thank you, for the pleasure and for the intellectual debate.

I've had some good positive comments that I really liked, and some negative ones that made me laugh.

One comment a few months ago about a story I wrote set in the 1950s was later deleted, I am not sure by the poster or an administrator, but it was written with the CAPS LOCK ON - admonishing me for ruining a good story by the characters using a condom, with a vulgar description of how the sex scene should have gone.

I got some negative feedback about two stories containing respectively a yuppie Australian girl and a posh English girl, the reader saying that I should write about anything but spoiled bitches. I presume they don't like stories about spoiled girls (although the posh English girl was more stuck-up than spoiled), and I hope they did not read my series on the Fetish board about a spoiled rich girl who hates a camping trip!

One thing I have noticed is some negative comments about my stories that are set in Australia, or which contain Australian characters. I think some people just don't understand Australia, Australians or the Australian sense of humor.

Never had that problem myself, but I don't write "obvious Australian" stories - mine are city stories on the whole, with only occasional Oz allusions and wildlife, and could be anywhere. I figure most intelligent readers figure out they're not set in the USA, from the idiom and the spelling.

One commentator thought I was a graduate from the University of Iowa creative writing school. I don't know if that's good or bad!

I've said it before that being called a goober gobbler by anon was a highlight.

Huh. The only issue I've ever had with Australian content was when I had a Greek character refer to herself as a "wog" without realising that this is much more offensive in UK English than here; a few readers commented on that and I added a note to avoid misunderstanding.

That said, I mostly write about city folk who don't use a lot of Australian vernacular, so there may not be as much to challenge my readers in that regard.

I was quite happy to see this on my poem, "Fucked by Trump":
