Accents

I was seeing a girl who liked my Australian accent. I watched a bunch of episodes of Neighbours on YouTube to refine it.

Definitely. Last week, I had to speak to an Australian concierge for some completely innocent restaurant recommendations, and damned if I didn't get all flustered and have terribly dirty thoughts just hearing/talking to him.

And don't think I won't call again tomorrow to inquire about something else.

I love any accent at all except my own Brooklyn accent.....accent in a gal is a total turn on for me. Southern accents are too sexy!

Ladies and Gents... do you find yourself attracted to people with different accents from your own? Not necessarily head-over-heels-attracted, just intrigued, maybe. Any weaknesses for a particular one? I tend to appreciate foreign tones the most, Italian or Aussie.

I guess a fair question would be to those who might be considered to have a strong accent, do you get tired of being recognized for it?

Apologies in advance if this has been done before.

If I was still back 'ome I would talk like this ^^^.

A bit of my parents accent comes through when I don't put the emphasis on the letter T.

Water is wat-er or even wa-er as opposed to many who would say wa-ter. Slight difference. A buddy named Martin goes mental when I say Mart-in. He's a southern twat (southern England) and says Mar-tin.

Was accused by a teacher when we first came to Canada of mumbling. My dad said just tell her I speak proper and she has the accent. I did. Did not go over well.

A gf commented on how she liked my mum's posh English accent. Me mum was a fisherman's daughter. In England her accent is about as un-posh as you can get.

I do pronounce my 'H's. North Americans use H when they speak but do not when saying the letter. NA say 'aitch'. When it should be 'haitch'. The only time many working class accent Englishmen say the letter 'H' is when they pronounce the letter as 'haitch'. An 'ull accent is marked by dropping Hs much more than many English accents.

Me dad spoke like this ^^^

But I never recognized my parents accent unless my mum said tow truck or garage. Tow was pronounced like town. Garage started with a very hard G sound. Second G is harder too.

I can't say I have a thing for certain accents (maybe a nice classy British one for superior originality points?), but I definitely have some that I hate.

Not that deep molasses Southern drawl, but that twangy banjo on a dry plank of wood cunt speak drives me nuts. I'm also not a huge fan of anything west coast. If you sound like you grew up in Cali, I already secretly hate you (unless of course I don't).

Californians have accents?!

Southern American accents can be quite nice. But I can't stand Paula Deen's (I watch Food Network). I suspect she puts on a much stronger accent than she might really have. Might be wrong but never know with celebrities. Either put on or subdue. Probably more likely her particular voice.

They do, but their accents are incorporated into every movement they make, as if god himself paved the concrete they strut upon. Makes me itch n twitch.

God created Yorkshire for Yorkshirepersons. So can't say I blame the Californians for aspiring to be like Yorkshirepersons. Gotta have perfect ideals to shoot for.

I'm but a simple Nebraskan, lost in a world of self glorification.

I have a multi-location accent. I was born to northern parents but raised in the south. That means I can speak New York but do it with a southern twang. Wherever I live people tell me "you don't sound like you are from around here".

edited to add a word i left out. From
