Your Writing Plans for 2017?

I expected to be done with my latest project by now but it didn't happen. Its 105,000 words and a zillion scenes, but the story kept changing like the glass patterns onside a kaleidoscope.

Writing Plans for 2017?

(1) Finish my first Valentine's Day story ("The Wolf with the Red Roses") and get it in for the competition

(2) I'd like to finish 1 story or chapter for LIT every 6 weeks for the existing half a dozen story lines I have in progress (Hayley's Party, Chinese Takeout, Jeong Park, Happy Birthday to Me, Barbie Kiu & Strawberry)

(3) Take my (a) failed Winter Holidays story ("Phuket Xmas Vacation") and (b) "Boys Over Flowers"(started for the Valentine's Day competition) and complete both of them, but as novels to self publish. And get them self-published in the second quarter of 2017.

(4) Do the same thing with Chinese Takeout and Hayley's Party in the second half of 2017 - rewrite them totally and self-publish. I want 4 novels out by the end of 2017.

There's lots more I'd like to do but its that time thing. I'm always way to optimistic about how long it'll take me to write something.... and my stories grow on me.

Write till the end of the year, then stop. Start again.

No specific plans. Each story I write is the only one on the go at any point in time. I've found that once I've run out of steam on a story, that's it, I don't come back to it. Luckily, my dead story file is only two or three. If they don't want to be written, they don't get written.

Chloe, your list is impressive, I'd fail at the six-week clock! I don't bother setting targets, that's setting me up for failure; if a story happens, it happens.

It all depends on the leading lady; if she seduces me, she gets written. I don't worry about my male characters, they're all variations of me, so they're easy to write (if I don't know myself, who do I know?).

Wow, great question, i think it will help me to get my goals down.

1) finish the final chapter of the current work I'm uploading to lit. This is a squeezing water out of a stone situation, i'm struggling to write it. *bangs head against keyboard*

2) finish my april fool's contest entry, i basically wrote 90% for last years contest and then ran out of time -duh, but at least getting it in time for this year should be a walk in the park.

3) get the first instalment of my YA dystopian trilogy whipped up into shape.

there are various other stories -in various states of completion, i want to prioritise the YA thing so I don't have a plan as to when I'll finish them

I have a mainstream novel due in August. I have two other "ideas" under consideration by my publisher.

Right now, I'm looking forward to my mid-winter vacation coming up in a few weeks.

Lit wise, I have no definite plans. I have some stories I'd like to finish and a few that keep yelling at me. But I have more lucrative things going on so Lit is kind of on the back burner.

Writing Plans 2017

My plan starts on New Years.

I have been working with my editor for the better part of 8 months finishing a 30 part story here. Every day (almost), every week, and every month.

(1) Watch the last installment of my 30 part story get posted. (New Year's Eve or New Year's day)

(2) Take some time away from writing. ( I have found in life that occasionally taking a break from what you are obsessive compulsive about lets you get perspective ... and renewal of your spirit. And, that is where inspiration comes from. Perspiration comes from work ... inspiration comes from attentive reflective rest.)

(3) or write for my blog instead of Literotica.

Please note these are writing plans only, so real plans is hug wife, hug wife, eat a decent diet, see a new part of Mexico. More sex out of my head ... more beer in my head ...

I think it is called retirement ... perhaps I should try it ... since so far it has been harder work than working for a living.

Now there's an ambition I share wholeheartedly. I want to rock my readers socks off and have them panting for the next installment. Even if they are cryibg in the bath at the same time. Cathartic, that's the reader experience I want to achieve. And I really need to work to get there because I ain't there yet.

Glad I saw this. I was thinking of doing my annual goals thread. No need for two.

I have no real goals for lit this year. I'm sure at some point I may drop a couple stories here out of loyalty for my fan base, but other wise I feel I've taken lit as far as I feel I need to take it.

The only possible thing I could achieve here would be moving up a spot in the all time fav author list and I had a sniff of that happening last year, but I posted few stories in 2016 and the person ahead of me is very prolific. The #1 spot can't be seen with a telescope and to catch #2 I"d have to go into the archives and post the couple of dozen incest stories I have that have never been posted here and at this point I prefer to make money with.

My goals in general are to keep pushing marketing myself which I really only started last year and is a lot of work for small reward at the moment. I've done book expos and signings for my print books and have a podcast interview coming up in Boston next month and was invited to set up at the Apple comic con in NY with the same authors I did RI con with in November.

I'm close to finishing my sequel to my erotic horror novel Abigail, book two in a projected four book series and am in dire need of....

An editor and I am willing to pay so if anyone is interested or knows anyone shoot me a pm.

In response to a surprising amount of e-mails and PM's I have not abandoned the boards entirely, but will never be as prolific as I was for years. Time considerations, distractions and being tired of drama and site hypocrisy(none of which has affected me at all, but I get tired of it nonetheless) has taken its toll.

But as they say everything in moderation and I'll pop in from time to time. If for no other reason than to annoy the people who sent several "I haven't seen you, hope you're dead" e-mails. Gotta keep the fans and detractors equally happy.

I hope everyone has a Happy and safe New years and that whatever your goals are in writing, and life in general, you meet and exceed them.

* Publish the re-write of "Heather and Michael", Chapters 1 and 2. I've got the rough draft done
* Write the sequel to #2. It was originally going to be Chapters 3-6. Chapter 3 is published. Chapter 4 is in rough draft form and Chapter 5 is started. So re-write all that I have gotten written and then finish what's left
* Publish a Romance Christmas story that I have an idea for
* If I have time, publish some of the stories that I have mostly written. They aren't as good as what I've been writing recently, but I feel that it would be more beneficial to my presence on LitE to publish them rather than to keep hoping I'll think of something better

1) I finished writing out the chapter plan for the Ayakashi series, and although I'm not happy with it (needs more plot, plus some patching) I know myself- the ideas will pop up while writing. Also this will require some research- names and places and I gotta find out if tables existed back then and stuff. Sometimes I look at my work and wonder why I set it in feudal Japan. And then I remember, oh, swords and guts, that's why!

2) There are about 3 one shots and 2 series I have to write based off The Sharpest Lives. Again, since I have the idea down the stories just write themselves but I still like making chapter summaries for the longer ones. Most of them would be centered around the same timeframe of the main story, some focusing on the other characters (one was gonna be a Valentine's submission, but I'm lazy as shit and I don't think it'll be worth it, so I'll just write as I feel).

3) Ohoho how can I forget my gothic horror story.. it's still unnamed, and before that there is a lot of icky, disgusting research I have to do. Hehehehe.. I've written the second chapter (but not the first!), and I have no clue how to progress or end it. Maybe this is a sign that I need a co-writer.

4) I'm wondering if I should get a wordpress or a blog. I have a tumblr, and although it was really fun at first (like pinteresting!) it got boring when I found out that tumblr wasn't the best place for writing. I was planning to make little lessons on various medical topics- not only textbook-stuff but also on its history and discovery and controversies and advances and you know what, I always seem to bite off more than I can chew. Anyways, I'm working on designing the page to suit word heavy posts first, and then I'll start.

5) I have to read. But I'm very, very afraid of reading. Also I got shit like neuroanatomy to finish reading first, so I don't feel guilty when cracking open a new book. Currently I am fixing that by reading a book about neuroanatomy- Phantoms in the Brain by VS Ramachandran. Ghost penises FTW.

VS Ramachandran is very cool, and a pretty normal, modest guy as far as rock star scientists go. I've listened to him and met him in person a couple of times - fascinating man. Unfortunately the last time I saw him he was quite ill.

As far as writing goals, finishing a story for the V-Day contest is my first - all my recent attempts have ended up on the cutting room floor.

Neurologists are my favorite writers. They never seem to run out of stories or ideas. Oliver Sacks and Allan Ropper are some more that I like.
