Baba Booey dead

" Baba Booey, Baba Booey, Baba Booey."

Somebody had to say it.

Close enough, you aren't the only one that can't spell. :D

Ishmael

I have no idea how to spell it which is why I let voice to text handle it; it looked close enough to me.

I thought it rather interesting that Baba Booey is iconic enough that voice to text readily recognized it.

Yes. As you can Baba Booey see, he just Baba Booey interrupted your post from the Baba Booey other side.

Don't fuck with me man. I know the palm tree you live under. And Merry
Christmas.

Actually this is devastating news. It's like hearing that Scooby Doo was on the Interstate.

It's a saguaro cactus, actually. It is just possible that I'm over compensating.

...and a very Merry Christmas to you as well.

I was not a particularly regular listener. Especially in the early days. By the time I tried to actually listen to the show it seemed to be a show about the making of the show that they were making that particular day. I couldn't really see the point of it ever.

I think Stern is actually a smart, relatively funny guy but he's one of those people that plays best when he has somebody smart to play off of. He seemed to surround himself with not smart people and those segments just seemed flat to me.

You mean like Martin and Lewis. One of them is dead too.

"Baba Booey" was the nickname given to Stern's executive producer, Gary Dell'Abate, after he misstated the name of Quick Draw McGraw's sidekick Baba Looey as "Baba Booey" live on the air.

According to the news report I read, Joey Boots came up with the 'Baba Booey' catchphrase. He didn't show up for work one day so High-pitched Eric went to his place to check on him. He got the landlord to unlock the door and he found him slumped over a chair, ice cold.

Eric called into the show to give them the news. At first they didn't believe him. Eventually, they realized that Eric wasn't joking and ended the show.

Here's more details plus an audio clip of the exchange.
