Good lord, I've been here long enough that kids born when I joined can drive now.

Figure it's about time I have my own "so what's up, let's talk about me" thread. I mean, if all the cool kids can have one, why not me?

Anybody want to, I dunno, ask me stuff? I know I'm on FL more than here, but I still drop by from time to time. Talk to me!

Wow! That's a long time. Congrats and hope you're here for many more.

Questions? Sure. Care to share your perspective on how that kink world has changed over the last 16 years? Take you pick on how you choose to interpret 'the kink world'.

16 years is a long time to stay in any one place online! Longer than people stay in love...

Happy litversary!

Greetings Again

Been a long time, for us both. I'm sure it's easier for me to remember you though. Did you ever make that cruise to Alaska? Nice to run across your thread, makes me feel more at home and cozy.

I'm sure we could all sit back and listen as you pour your wisdom of the ins and outs of life over our minds. So as others have encouraged, just go for it!

Congrats!

So, what's new in your starry world?
Sir and I have been collar-shopping and contract-writing. Still a few months out from being ready for any sort of ceremony, but I was very surprised a couple of weeks ago that when I said "so I'm not asking for a collar because I don't know if you feel we're at that point, but..." he interrupted with "actually, I was thinking that we were getting to that point." :cathappy:

That's pretty much the newest thing! We've been together over a year now, and my vanilla boyfriend and I have been together (LDR) over two years now. But the collar and contract stuff is the newest bit.

Wow!
16 years.
That seems forever.

If you could offer 2 bits of wisdom you have gleaned from all your years around here, what would they be?

Happy 16 year anniversary.
Love that you are offering yourself as a resource. You rock.:rose:

Aw, thank you! I don't think I'm necessarily a great resource, I just wanted to try to get people to talk to me. But I am always very happy to answer questions or refer people elsewhere. But let's see, two bits of wisdom...

(1) Don't try to moderate pictures. Even though you're following what the admins wanted you to do, it is not worth the heartache posters will give you, and trying to do it will burn you out. ;)

(2) There's a whole lot of internet Domly Doms out there. That's okay. Some people feel perfectly valid having online-only relationships and imagining things rather than doing them. It's not for me, never has been, but it's perfectly valid.

Damn, 16! Congrats, Etoile!

You've been here 11 yourself, you know! ;)

Pics or shens!!!!

Okay, latest pic that I'm using as my profile various places:

Hubba Hubba!

Oh! Sorry, I thought you said "talk dirty to me".

My bad...

:rose::rose: :kiss:
Sir calls me his "little One-Track" because I'm constantly thinking about sex. So I probably meant talk dirty to me!

I had to split this into two pieces, because Lit was like "goddamn woman, you use too many smilies!"

Wow! That's a long time. Congrats and hope you're here for many more.

Hmm. I think in general it's become a lot more public. In 2002 you had Secretary, and that was pretty revolutionary. Fifty Shades of Gray was published in 2011, and that was also pretty revolutionary. (Not necessarily in a good way, but it did bring kink into the national conversation much more loudly.) I'm a lot more willing to make jokes and innuendos about it than I used to be, and I think that's a reflection of how it's gotten more acceptable. I'm not out everywhere, mind you, but I think the concept of kink is out of the bedroom enough that my jokes can be understood.

On a more personal front, my own kink life has changed pretty radically in the last 16 years...I used to cling pretty hard to a lesbian identity, even while dating genderqueer partners, and now I'm just like "aw hell, I'll fuck anybody, I'm a big ol' queer." :D

I'm also much more a part of the public kink scene than I have ever been before. I used to attend kink events, now I'm a staff member for one of the oldest kink organizations in the US. :)

Happy litversary!
That's a good point - it's pretty impressive the forum has been up that long! And I've been with my wife for nearly 19 years, which is a huge rarity among my friends, so yeah, it's pretty dang long, I think.

I have always enjoyed reading your posts. I'm glad you're still around here.
Aw, thank you!

I did actually! I went on a cruise to Alaska in 2005 and another in 2007. It's absolutely gorgeous, I'd totally go again, though not now!! It's so nice to hear that I can make Lit feel familiar and cozy for you.

My wisdom...again, I don't think I'm any more wise than anybody else here...but boy have I seen and done a lot of things at this point. And yet I'm always learning...Sir has been in the public scene longer than I have, and his knowledge beats mine!

That's the thing about wisdom, we each have our own little bits picked up along our journey. Kinda like when you go to the beach and just have to take that one special bit of flotsam home. Perhaps it's the joy of sharing our little treasures with others around the campfire that we really like. (I didn't mean to put you on the spot expecting some great proclamation :), I just couldn't think of anything more clever to say.)

I'm glad you made your trips. Next time I hope you have the time to explore some of the inland treasures.

Love the pic Etoile.

I think there is tremendous strength in long term
Posters. I think it does give a sort of experience that breeds wisdom in many. It's exciting and joyful to me to read about how you balance life seemingly coolly and calmly and with eveveryone in great cheer and harmonious interaction over long terms. This is a great perspective to have here imo.

I...wow. I hadn't thought about it that way before, but you're kind of right. I have long fancied myself a peacekeeper, but I realize I do actually go out of my way to make people happy, and it seems to work quite well. Thank you so much, this was wonderful to read, and made my heart happy on a very chilly day. :)

Happy LIT-aversary, Etoile!!!
It's hard to believe that you have been here posting so long, why it seems like it was only yesterday when you, Pink Orchid and all were helping to fend off the attack of the evil silk=satin wearer ;)
Seriously, thanks for still being here!
