So ...have we found out who the Good Guy and the Evil Villain are yet from the start of the thread?

Ish

you say the two IP's represent known Litsters....so:

A) is what is being done by them wrong?

B) if it is, why aren't they gone already?

C) why hasn't there been a Service Memo from Laurel & Manu?

D) who are they?

Lance

errrrrrrrrrrr Ishmael hello so what happened?

who are these naughty people?

Mini update.

The cross referencing IP's is a bitch, but moving forward. There are two that have made themselves apparent over the last few days though.

67.68.XXX.XXX Toronto-HSE-ppp3780130.sympatico.ca
64.230.XXX.XXX Ottowa-HSE-ppp257109.sympatico.ca

Both sites are of known Lit. members and are known for attempts to gain entry to others computers.

The quest continues.

That you wanted to take over a Bulleting Board. Just for the challenge of it. It'd be a cool thing to do. How would you go about it?

I imagine that there were many ways to do this, but it would be difficult for one person to pull it off. Wouldn't it? But let's suppose that there are a group of friends, perhaps Computer Science students. Or just hackers. They know how to use the internet. Proxies etc. A multiplicity of e-mail accounts.

One persona could be the 'good guy'. Erudite and friendly. Witty and charming. But these are educated people and most all of them could do that. But they can't be there all the time. So many can play the role. One picking up the slack for the other(s). Drama at it's finest and in almost real time as well.

Of course we'd have to have the villian. The persona that took the information acquired by the 'good guy' to be used against selected targets.

There may even by several parties involved. A female persona or two? Who's to know?

Imagine the havoc that a group like that could reek on any particular site.

A really good group could track down the IP's or e-mails of those that are communicating with each other and plant, or attempt to plant remote control "trojan horses" like Backdoor.jeem in your computer. Lying your inner life and communications bare to the group. Weapons to be used against you.

Of course after some period of time patterns would develope. Subtle patterns, but patterns none the less. Evnetually it would all come to light.

But imagine the damage in the mean time.

But it's just a thought.

Ishmael

Figured it all out yet, genius?

Ha!

Those of you who are new here and wonder if Ishmael's a psychotic loon...just read some of this thread at your leisure.

Note the date. Note the responses.

The game's the same, only the names (some) have changed.

Maybe they are making a class project out of it. I think this place has already been taken over by aliens. Alt aliens, that is.

Hackers can do a lot of shit that people can't track. Hello, it's called identity theft.

Have you posted your username in all 53,478 of your forum posts like a retarded retard?

This thread should have a sticky...

Lets play, "spot the alt."

I guess it is a mere coincidence that BobsDownSouth has this thread bookmarked, and "Cade" does too.

Interesting that Bob the acknowledged board historian and Cade are so big on retaining and bumping old threads.

Bob should have kept the boogeyman Cade to insulate himself from his little fuck-fuck games. When he retired Cade in favor of blaming all of his little fuck-fuck games on me he lost that level of insulation and it left him there and exposed.

Him playing innocent made a lot more sense when he stayed out of it and wasn't so obviously, personally invested in whatever little fuck fuck game was going on.

Speaking of his previous MO of convienently being absent from board drama that he creates, Cade last bumped this thread. A thread important enough to Rob to have itbookmarked. You know who avoided actually posting in the thread? Rob.

Do you have any idea how many threads Cade used to bump on a daily basis?

Do you have any idea how many threads Cade used to bump on a daily basis?

No.I wasn't here to see that. What little I know of Cade seems to be when Rob bumps a thread that happens to involve Cade. When he had "Cade" to bump threads when he wants to bump threads then I guess Rob the board historian doesn't have to show himself as obsessive as he is by bumping as many threads. Count all the threads that Rob and Cade bumped together and that's a pretty obsessive number wouldn't you say?

How is it that Rob and Cade have the boards best cross-indexed bookmarks?

Cade, who mysteriously quit posting at exactly the time that Rob and only Rob started accusing me of being sock puppets that I clearly know aren't me since they're not.

You ever wonder why it is that Rob never addresses you positively, negatively or neutrally? Rob also never interacts with Rory as Rob. Why is that? A bumped thread trolling Rory was when the tumblers clicked for me.

Did you really think that this character named Cade showed up on the board with a chip on his shoulder for specific posters when after and attacked those specific posters while having no board history at all prior to him showing up? Just showed up to start shit but only with specific people people that rob is either apparently indifferent to or at war with? Cade never ever attacks anyone that Rob is friendly with.

Let me guess early on you had some sort of minor dust-up with him you bested him in an argument, he slunk away and just for whatever reason never really addressed you ever again.

You will get no argument from me that Cade alts are instantly recognizable. Why is it that no one ever asked, "but who is Cade?"

Rob only went into full-on maniacal attack mode with me, complete with adopting his entire profile as an homage to me when I pointed out that his attack style was absolutely in keeping with the signature Cade attack style.

His payoff for this goes well beyond simply being able to attack his enemies from hiding. He also gets a hard-on over the idea that he's put one over on everyone on the board. Making him and his mind some kind of Evil Genius. When really it's just stupid and pathetic.

Admittedly for Rob to put this level of energy in for this number of years is somewhat unbelievable.

Keep in mind the pathetic human being who typed all those words as Cade started all of those alts built that entire house of cards was someone. Someone able to harbor grudges for a decade or more.

If not Rob, who's second most likely to fixate on and endlessly troll specific posters?

It's a far distant second.

Good point Tulip - beasties are always their nastiest when cornered. Would be good to keep our eyes out for crap like that, and be extra vigilant at reporting violations, now that they know the writings on the wall.

It's fun to watch 'em squirm though ain't it :D

Another litster that needs to make more appearances.
