I suspect you probably had early suspicions but I still picture you as kind of a left-wing hippie who had a come-to-jesus moment when you realized that the word legalize simply meant regulate, tax, and control.

I'm trying to remember what the seminal moment was for me but I can't it seems too far back. One of the earliest I remember was hearing Reagan talking about fixing Social Security at about the same time that I learned who FICA was and why he was taking a 7.65% cut of my meager check.
