What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Yes, but on Saturday. Two uk lit bdsm board couples are coming and a lovely lady from general board who is moving to the states soon but has never had thanksgiving, so I wanted her to have a tiny taste of what it will be like. I am not going all out Americana, but having a little fun ... some of the basics :) but importantly a lovely gathering and something to enjoy.

( consilience didn't want to come ;) )

 :)
So much fun!
I hope everyone loves it.
Especially you :)

Did buttermilk pie make it on the menu this year? :) (No hurt feelings if it didn't; I'm just curious hehe) The holidays are going to be anything but traditional for me this time around. I hope you all have a wonderful time together. :rose:

Ham
Homemade mac and cheese
Roasted asparagus

Me and the kid.
He wants real food. :)

I've been trying to get my family to de-stress over Thanksgiving by greatly simplifying the menu. Not only did they stupidly reject my idea in principle, they even voted unanimously to forbid me from making fried Spam. They are ungrateful wastrels, the whole lot of them.

You could still have that for breakfast on Thursday. You know, just to make the house smell good :p

I like 'em.

Mine decided to de-stress by cancelling the whole she-bang and scattering to the four winds.

It was quite cruel of yours to forbid the fried Spam. :rose:

There are a lot of dishes that get a bad reputation and I don't really understand why. Tuna casserole is one of those dishes that always seems to get picked on. I just made a tuna casserole and it's so damned yummy. I was able to use some leftover veggies and I made a Béchamel sauce that really made it creamy and delicious. No bad review from me. ;)

I'm a sucker for that.

I also suggested hot dogs and fries. No dice. Not even turkey dogs and fries! Ingrates.

:D I love stuff like this because it's easy and uses up my leftovers. It'll also feed two people for a few days so I can work more on Thanksgiving preparations. I'm thinking of making a cinnamon custard pie. I think it will be tasty and unique compared to the usual desserts available with our gatherings.

It's a custard-type pie made with buttermilk. It's pretty simple to make, and quite rich.

I shared the recipe here last year. :)

I remember that, and I remember it sounding amazing then, too!
Thank you for the repost.

MeekMe's cinnamon custard pie also sounds good.

Pie...
Fuck.

Oh! Thank you for re-posting the recipe Lyricalli! I remembered the post, but not when it was posted. :)

I have a surfeit of buttermilk from making cornbread. Pie sounds like the absolute best way to use up the excess. NOM.
