No one has real friends anymore

Real friends don't meet the daily "like" quota I've set for myself.

A friend will help you move.

A good friend will help you move a body.

I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.

Someone that will help you move...and has a truck.

During my last move a whole bunch of people helped with trailers, and cars, but the guy with the truck, I didn't know, he was a friend of a friend.
It was chaos because I ended up in the ER for most of the day, but it worked ok though I still haven't found everything...

I prefer using movers if I have the funds and can schedule them when I need to move. It takes less time, less hassle and usually less breakage. I also much safer for me ;)

My definition of a good friend is one who takes you to the ER on demand and stays there, however long until you are okay or stabilized, then attends the next couple days monitoring you at a convention they hadn't planned on being at, so you can still be there.

Actually, I have many friends who will take and hang out with me in the er, all through the night if need be. At times several are there and we have had get togethers in the ER.

I am part of a good set of people. When one friend had a stroke, we did shifts and never left him alone for his entire hospital stay, even in rehab too. It was a good thing because he had a second stroke while we were there, and no one would have known or treated it until much later if we hadn't seen it happen.

I moved 1600 miles...twice. I don't even see those people anymore. Should have just abandoned all that crap.

Byron was that kind of friend too. If you needed him, he was stolid and there.

Oh, do you have stuff in storage that you need to move?
I am in contact with my friends from the various places I have lived, some of my stuff is still in different places... I am not worried, it's in houses.

I use some of my crap to store crap in. It's a vicious circle.

I find that after various events in my life some things have very little meaning and I give them away. It's always good to re-evaluate every few years or after a major event. We really don't need the amount of stuff we have.

Ms. Ann, I agree with your cartoon about internet "friends" you've never met. I think it's sad that many people now base their lives in virtual reality.

Maybe you're looking to make friends in the wrong places?

I have only a handfull of 'real' friends, but they are the kind of friends who will drop everything and fly all the way across the country to help me if I need them, as I would do for them (and we have done so in the past).
Then there are the 'great to hang with' friends who I have met during daily life and get together with sometimes (maybe once a month or so) for a night out or a coffee date.
Next come the 'oh, I remember you' friends, who are really just friends of friends who I know a little.
And finally the 'not really friends because we only met on lit/fb/etc' friends.

Real friends are rare and should be cherished :)

Not really looking...real friends are a lot of work. Virtual friends come with an off switch.

You don't look for them, they just fall into your lap somehow, but you need to recognize them when they do.
