I finally had to de-friend my ranting sister on Facebook. We are political polar opposites but she can't seem to shut up about it. I can't imagine having a spouse that supports the other party. I don't think I could fuc them anymore.

I ended a long time friendship with someone based on his statements on FB. Our friendship was superficial, social media only for years. But he was posting bigotry and hate. The memes were disgusting and I don't need to be chums with someone who thinks that's okay. The election revealed his nature.

Not so much. Outside of this place, I really don't often put myself in positions where I'm picking fights with people who I know don't agree with me politically. On Facebook, I rarely go past correcting a misstatement of fact, in large part because there's nothing more boring than a Facebook political pest.


My dad was quite the sparring partner back in the day, but by the time Obama came around his health wasn't as good and he seemed to have lost interest in political arguments. It's just as well that this is the first election he's been gone for, since the prospect of President Hillary would have killed him anyway.

Our arguments are about Jeremy Corbyn leading the Labour Party. I think he is wrecking a party than has done such much over decades for ordinary people and some of my family think he is wonderful.

I dumped Facebook in the 2012 election, to much BS from both sides from co workers and friends. I don't need to know people political views to be their friend, I also will tell my wife or family who I vote for, nor do I ask who they vote for.

Yep. One of my sisters and I aren't talking as a result of this campaign. I firebombed another one years ago when she was sending me reactionary claptrap e-mail attachments. I don't send anything political to relatives. Most of them are on the opposite side of the spectrum to me. The family line goes back to Colorado Senator Edwin Johnson (a McCarthy crony), and the Western branch of the family has stuck with that or gone Libertarian.

I don't speak of politics in general. It is socially more dangerous now than anything else. My wife was talking a lot of politics on her Facebook page and I sat down with her, talked to her, showed her some examples of how extreme the Left was towards her political views, how nasty they could be and how they would attack her personally by such tactics as going directly to her employer and complaining in a mass attack of people who have no connection to our community but are dedicated to social justice.
