Donald Trump's increasingly inflammatory rhetoric is bringing out the worst in his die-hard supporters, some of whom are now calling for a violent coup if Hillary Clinton becomes president, and pledging to racially profile and intimidate minority voters on Election Day.

The Boston Globe reports that Trump supporters are starting to believe what the GOP presidential nominee has repeatedly told them — that the election will be "rigged" as part of a massive conspiracy to defeat him at the hands of "crooked Hillary." And the impact of Trump's incendiary statements could be felt far beyond Election Day, undermining Americans' faith in democracy and making it difficult to govern — or worse.

“If she’s in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That’s how I feel about it,” Dan Bowman, a 50-year-old contractor, said of Clinton at recent rally in Cincinnati. “We’re going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that’s what it takes. There’s going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that’s what it’s going to take. . . . I would do whatever I can for my country.”

I think it's just all talk. On Election Night they'll seethe and yell at their TVs, November 9 they will have hangovers (as will the Dems), and that will be that.

Smart local police / sheriff offices will station extra troops around sensitive polling places that Tuesday. I won't be there. Our mail-in ballots arrived yesterday and we'll drop them in the box at the county offices tomorrow -- and receive our cherished I VOTED stickers. There will probably be a marked rise in 'so called' militias. But they always seem to be penetrated by FBI agents quite easily. 'Militia' members are not part of the county's intelligentsia so don't have the brains to conduct an insurgency or acts of terrorism with any degree of planning and secrecy.

'Lone wolf' domestic terrorism acts will go up. I'm sure there will be a few of those, perpetrated by mostly racists and Nazi wannabes. A true patriot will abide by the election results, even if not happy with it.

This will be necessary for him to try to head off disastrous down-ballot effects as a result of his impeding defeat. I'll bet he will concede early on the night of November 8, but he has already planted the seeds of violence.

The problem is, his base includes some of the stupidest and most violent people in Amerika. Just like with Islamic extremists, when you indoctrinate and incite them for months on end, they tend to explode. There will probably be post-election violent effects caused by this presidential candidate, who has been behaving like a 14-year-old boarding school bully. Violent acts will probably be somewhat isolated, because it will be difficult for a movement to develop based around a buffoon like Trump.
