Lots of relaxing, then a short cycle ride out to a country pub for lunch, getting really rather cool at this time of year so we sat inside, lovely with all the wood fires burning in the hearths. Back home, long bath, reading, telly, wine, dinner.

And then some lovely naughtiness before bed :devil:

Yesterday was a family lunch thing, a long drive to get there but a lovely event, just home now after staying over.

How about you, papadoc, did you have a nice weekend so far?

Nah...college football broke my heart and put me in a brief funk yesterday...recovered from that...now I am just relaxing at home and catching up on some chores. :)

Aw, sorry to hear about your heartbreak :( I feel a bit similarly gutted for our Mark Cavendish this afternoon, British cyclist, massively successful internationally in his sport, but today he just missed becoming World Champion. A year of coming second for him, he won a silver medal on the track in the Olympics.

I hate doing chores on a Sunday. Although I accidentally washed and dried a set of bed linen earlier ;)

Relaxing's good. Do more of that ;)
 
So the place where I stayed over after a family party at the weekend was an old hall, built in the early 1600s, but now converted into a mid-price hotel, part of a chain, actually. It was all dark wood panelling, very atmospheric, rather beautiful.

And in reception, high on the wall, these ladies:

... representing 'virtues', I suppose. Not sure how well I did, though:

  • Humility - difficult one, I'd like to think I'd get a PASS
  • Charity - gave the taxi driver a tip, counting that as a PASS
  • Temperance - um, nope :D FAIL
  • Truth - well, the tea and coffee we had on arrival didn't turn up on the bill, and I didn't tell them, so... FAIL
  • Chastity - oh, come on. Really? In a hotel? FAIL :devil:
  • Patience - I didn't throw a tantrum when I had to wait ages to collect the key, going to count that as a PASS
 
Oh Numi darling let me educate you:
'Chastity' in a married woman is her ready availability to her husband, and her being a total minx with him so as to save him from any urge to go elsewhere and sin!

So, damn it, you PASS, I reckon! :D

You get no 'fail' on that one until such time as another dude ... er ... well, I needn't spell it out; I'm quite happy just imagining it. ;)

Actually, now you've explained it like that, I'm looking again at Lady Chastity in those panels, and she is actually on the point of hoiking up her frock - just look at her hand :devil: She's only got it just above her ankle so far, but I think we can imagine where she's headed. Minx, indeed!

Wouldn't it have been brilliant if there had been a similar panel of male virtues on the other side of the room? What would they have picked I wonder. Gallantry, I expect. Bravery. Chivalry. Able to ride a horse in full armour without falling off. :)

We should come up with some alternative modern virtues.

Kinkiness. Represented by a lady in a leather bikini with distinct glint in her eye.

Self-reliance. Represented by a lady holding a rabbit vibrator.

Giving. Represented by a lady on her knees.

I'm sure I can come up with a few more ;)

I'm firmly in the 'I know what I like' school of art appreciation :) I can't draw or paint for toffee, though, so I'd have to engage someone to construct the actual panels for me. :)

New AV? Do you have a new bike? Is there still room for a passenger? :devil:
 
I think I'd also want

Dexterity. Represented by a man holding out his beautiful hands. Large, strong hands, perhaps demonstrating his dexterity by tying a complex knot in a rope?
