CEO Shaming

I understand that our economy prices are set on supply and demand but no one likes a cock blocker. Monopolies are illegal for many reasons. If you let some get way with it then many will notice and buy them selves a politician too. Oh wait, that would be business as usual. The system is a hot mess these days. It's no wonder the cost of health care is so high and the workers are so low payed. I agree it is a game but it has rules. There are loop holes but blatantly breaking the rules has it cost. Work those loop holes like a 10$ hooker but don't blatantly break the rules and then get pouty when you get found out.

If a monopoly sets the price too high, people will turn to substitute goods and they will eventually, because of shrinking demand have to either raise prices (the Apple model) or reduce prices to be competitive with the substitute goods.

Monopoly is a political term more than an economic term.

Fighting "monopolies" buys votes...

You don't think Heather Bresch was not pouting when she tried to justify the huge market mark up of the epipen?
I do agree you can not have a monopoly with out help from a larger organization. Mob or Gov.

There is a very low-cost alternative to the epipen.

All a person has to do is educate themselves on how to give an injection.

Guess she was trying to not burn bridges. She may need them once she changes companies and has another monopoly to set up. Smh

Right, so she had to sit there and take a spanking and look like it hurt REAL REAL BAD.

That stern talking to really showed her!!

She would not be the first to do exactly that.

That is all basic economics and politics. If there is a dragon to fight the people will always rally to their "champions" side.

What Mylan did was block it so no one else could be competition. Now there is competition.
Giving an injection is not as easy as you think. If not trained properly one can seriously hurt themselves. The Epipens delivery system was one of it's biggest selling points. Plus needles can easily bend and then it would be useless when it is needed. It is a life saving device not a preventive. A bent needle would render it useless***** and death folks.
Lets be honest education is not most consumers strong point. They like new shiny and what everyone else has. It's called marketing. :)
It is why a lot of people only vote party lines. They never even bother to read up on the issues or the candidates. I think we are the rare few that make it our duty to do so. Let's face it advertising runs the world!

In opposite world you'd be right.

Stunningly irrational.

Bull shit. Aspirate before injection. the epipen doesn't even give you that measure of safety.

Before most of the various states outlawed it I bought all of my veterinary injections from the local feed and grain store. I still do, only on-line. Never had a patient die after 40 years now.

It's not rocket science sweetie.

Have you heard of Comcast and their customer service?

The monopoly supplier of electricity can't put their prices up too far because people will stop buying electricity and buy asparagus or maybe cheese burgers instead.

Libertarian logic 101.

Ishmael

Do you have any less idiotic explanations of libertarian commodity substitution theory?

Of course you don't.

Because your 'theories' are absurd, irrational nonsense.

Just the useful idiots of oligarchs.

In the three states I've lived in the state government controlled electricity prices. Not perfect but electricity companies could not just set prices as they wanted.

Which is exactly what libertards would decry as gubmint tyranny.

And you come from a nation that on the whole has contributed NOTHING to the human condition. If it weren't for film productions and leg of lamb you could hardly be said to exist at all. To your credit you haven't made it worse.

Re. the libertarian commodity substitution theory. It's just that, a theory. For that matter the entire 'science' of economics is based on theories, isn't it? And who are the lab rats?

The fact remains that we all put into practice that 'theory' every day of our lives. "I'll buy this instead of that." The Chevy instead of the Dodge. All based on rational of our own.

What you're throwing out is issues concerning government sanctioned (cable, phone), and in some cases government owned, monopolies, such as electrical power. Monopolies that made sense at one time, for a limited time, but are quickly being made irrelevant.

The problem is that it is in the governments best interest for these alternative NOT to be made available. The revenues of the government itself is dependent on the status quo. Meaning that the politicians haven't figured out a way to tax them or use them to control our lives.

You, obviously, are an advocate of the government maintaining those monopolies. Perhaps in a podunk little nation such as you live in it still makes sense. In the post industrial world it makes very little sense at all. Then again, you were never industrialized to begin with.

a) you don't know where I come from but,

b) thanks for displaying your overt racism and thus your lack of intellect so early in the piece.

This type of racism makes the libertardians "freedom amd liberdeeeeee!!!!!!!" thingy look a bit silly, don't you think?

More irrelevant racist drivel.

Re. the libertarian commodity substitution theory. It's just that, a theory. For that matter the entire 'science' of economics is based on theories, isn't it? And who are the lab rats?

No not really. Some of it is based on sound mathematics and accounting,

That's the stuff that Austrians and libertoonians despise.

The fact remains that we all put into practice that 'theory' every day of our lives. "I'll buy this instead of that." The Chevy instead of the Dodge. All based on rational of our own.

That has nought to do with monopolies.

No, you;re just muddying the waters trying to build up to your next big lie.

The problem is that it is in the governments best interest for these alternative NOT to be made available. The revenues of the government itself is dependent on the status quo. Meaning that the politicians haven't figured out a way to tax them or use them to control our lives.

And there we have it. The big lie.

No currency issuer is dependent on revenue.

And there's that casual racism again.

You have no idea what I think because you have no idea of how an economy actually works.

You people have been conditioned to believe what big business wants you to believe.

None of it is real.

Well there's that libertarian 'logic' at play.

It's pathetic that adult human beings do it.

Can't make any claim can you?

Just keep worming around endlessly :D

LOLz.

You define yourself as an American.

I find that ridiculous.

And offensive the way you use it.

leaving aside the BB needling effect which seems to have worked on underguy. Again. :),

Here's probably why:
Nz has less than 5 million people, a large % of which are in Auckland. As for the rest - the amount of people that you guys would fit into one larger city are spread on two islands

So if he gives too much specific info about himself, particularly if he's not from the two main groups of immigrants and does not live in Auckland, chances are that someone who surfs leisurely on the site would recognise him.

When I went to bed this was an adult conversation. WTF you bunch of inbreed children? I can't leave you unsupervised for 8 hours!?! Really?

1) If injections were so easy to do then you would not need any level of training to give them in offices. Not to mention people are idiots. That is why they have to put stupid warning labels on everything. It would be a safety risk. Some idiot would hit their sciatic nerve, hit a bone or break off the needle in themselves. These things are designed to the lowest common denominator if you recall.
2) The utility companies are no longer monopolies. That is why they have the apples to apples program.
3) History has taught us that as nation development tend to go though different stages of government. The USA and Australia are the exceptions I can think of to the pattern. Off the top of my head mind you. Mostly due to the fact that they started as colonies and not as nations or tribes.
4) WTF does any of the above have to do with CEO shaming? Get back on topic meat heads. :D

You're free to not come in the thread anymore.

That's not true and the training can be done in under 90 seconds. Seriously....it's not difficult. I've taught thousands of stupid grunts in the Army how to start an IV.

2) The utility companies are no longer monopolies. That is why they have the apples to apples program.

In CA and a lot of other states they are.

3) History has taught us that as nation development tend to go though different stages of government.

What's your point?

4) WTF does any of the above have to do with CEO shaming? Get back on topic meat heads. :D

How about no.

It should make you ashamed.
1.Once I sought to help you when you were being attacked on these very boards. At the first chance you got you tried to throw me under the buss to distract from you and get out of it.

That kind of traitorous behavior is a major crack in ones character. You are a horrid person. You have no honor. You have no truth. Anyone that would do that will get nothing but animosity from me for the rest of their days. So go ahead and be amused. g.
I've been wondering a bit lately why you seem to be so upset with me.
Until now I thought that you were just being bratty and you've been picking on me because I'm disliked by Blurt thread members, so I'm an easy target for you. Hence my own aggressive reactions by mocking you.

But honestly.
I was surprised when you told me that your reason for doing that was because you believe that I threw you under the bus in the past, because I don't remember such incident. Not saying that it didn't happen; it might well have, but I might have been unaware of it. But honestly - I never wished you any harm, and if I might have done something in that line,it was probably unintentional or defensive if I perceived that I was being attacked. Like here.

I'm hoping that you would clarify that a bit more to me and we discuss it, because I'd be interested in changing things between us for the better.
