Here's probably why:
Nz has less than 5 million people, a large % of which are in Auckland. As for the rest - the amount of people that you guys would fit into one larger city are spread on two islands

So if he gives too much specific info about himself, particularly if he's not from the two main groups of immigrants and does not live in Auckland,chances are that someone who surfs leisurely on the site would recognise him.

The less information, the better. I heard about posters being mocked and harassed
for years over some personal information that they slipped just once.

I also wrote because it was my own motivation for not fully revealing my own background (as in country of origin, studies, occupation).

On top of what I wrote re the occasional lurkers who might know you IRL,
I lived in NZ for many years before Australia, and I know how easy it is to track someone down. 10 times easier than for Australia or the UK.
Because it's such a small country and because for certain professions a lot of things are published online (like employees profile, or previous schedules of all sorts of things with who participated at what),
- one only has to do a google search for "profession" +'"country of origin" + "likely age group" and Boom! they hit the motherload. They found you.

So that was wise on your part.
You wouldn't want some random person from a porn site have that sort of information.

. It had to do with guarding your personal information. THAT is dangerous and can lead to RL stalking or phonecalls to one's employees.
