I'm curious as to why if you have to go back thirty pages to find a particular "topic" you bump the dreaded thing instead of just creating a newer version?

I'm thinking there might be reasons behind the OP not keeping the thread alive, so to speak?

Just an observation.
I get to chuckle when I see it. So carry on...

Might be that they just don't see the date? If you're idly browsing, you don't always notice how old something is, specially on the PG where topics move pretty quickly.

Plus, people might not notice a new thread, but one that has several replies already might encourage them to take part. You know, like that thing of restaurants hiring people to sit at the tables near the window so the place looks rocking?

Cause then you'll be accused of starting another thread, while there is clearly one in existence already ...

Been there done that!

Let them all die. Let's burn the place down and start our own universe lol. I am a hypocrite lol because, I bump my own threads to keep it alive. I think it's a great idea but, the thread dies down.

are we talkin' fist bumps or hip bumps? ;)

Also, is there a difference between bumping an old thread or posting in an old thread?

I accidently BUMped a thread or two or three when I fist signed on here. Newby, didn't know, browsing all the boards and not paying attention to posting dates. Just the usual dumb ass rookie mistakes.

You never know what a gem you might find if you bump. And I also don't mind if someone starts a new thread either.

I try to be easygoing and just let that stuff go........

Someone will complain no matter what choice you make. Does it really matter in the whole scheme of things? Do what makes you happy.

Well what about the people that get off bumping old threads a cyber thred necrophilia...
It could be a thing.

I would think anybody's that older than dirt would like to be bumped every now & then? No?

Denny, old dirt bumper

We, my wife and me...I, just sort of randomly click on threads. We don't pay attention to how old, new, repeated, stolen, or whatever. I normally don't know if I'm Playing on the Ground or Generally Board. I hate politics yet I check there for my religeous needs and the latest cooking recipes from members who know even more than Hillbillery or Trumpetface. That's Personal so I'm sorry.
We come here to cum and have fun.
The part or parts that make us say WTF? are the senseless threads, often complaining and bitching about other members, the threads ending in words ending in "Ing". "DD", etc, and what the fuck time is it where in the world you are, while you are eating something, etc, again and so on.

Yet we can start a thread that goes nowhere because we are nobody so nobody cares. Yet I could change my name to ///// or some pervert in Canada and bullshit would flow forever.

By the way SEARCH is our friend.

Feel free to Bump or discard this post even though a lot of time, study, thought, and searching went into it. I'll be heartbroken and may have to cry. But I'm nobody and I've wasted your valuable time.
From one dirt bag to another. It's a dirty post but someone had to do it..

Bump!

I think there are some valid reasons to bump some old threads.

I bumped Safe Haven in memory of my old Lit friend that passed.

I bumped the OSP thread since Blackwolf and I were discussing it.

I think in some cases there is a valid reason. :D

Still there are some threads that once buried should stay that way.

Bump!

lol...
I gave up trying to keep threads alive (unless it's my personal ad, which, btw, I will eventually let die at some point)

Create a thread and turn it loose. If it takes off....huzzah ..if not... Who honestly cares?

I just have difficulty with the back and forth required in most threads. Posting can get laggy, seems rude to skip over people, but if I don't know you from Adam, I have no desire to flirt with you or ask you what color underwear you're wearing today.

Come to think if it, some of the threads that manage to keep going are a bit strange.

Does anyone honestly give more than a half shit what I bought today? Or what I've been eating?

I prefer the blurt threads where I can come in, say what I want, then leave.

I've never been much of a social butterfly anyway, so maybe that answers that.

Denny

Nice reply to my post on your thread.

I'm almost as old as Adam, rarely wear underwear, and flirting sometimes makes me nervous. But I do flirt and compliment women simply because so many others just take them for granted or say nasty thngs.
I'm married to the same mean old woman I met in high school and probably will keep her until one of us dies. That could be next week or years from now. Until then we are having fun and still slightly sexually active. Since moving home from Florida we are spending more time with old old friends and our family.
Lit is just a place to learn, remember, and share good times.
My post was all in fun so laugh.;)

Even if the thread is old, there are new members who haven't seen it. They may enjoy it. No one is expected to enjoy all threads. Those you don't like you're under no obligation to respond to. Ignore them and move on to something else. I've been here longer than many and have seen a few threads resurface many times.
