This thread has been helpful. I'm not brand new but am still finding my way around.
At first, I didn't notice dates but was just focused on browsing and sampling the wide range of topics. Mostly quiet, because I lurk more than mix. Used those boring/silly game threads to boost my post numbers (but still no avatar yet. Decisions, decisions) and to get glimpses of others' sense of humor and general personality.
When I started seeing complaints about posts to old threads, I was confused. I'm still hoping someone might explain the unwritten rules. What makes a thread "too" old? Or what makes it one that "should stay buried" and start fresh if people want to entertain the topic 'now'? (Glad to see this thread addressing those Qs.)
New to it all, the notion of 'current' has no meaning. I wasn't necessarily finding things of highest interest at the top of the heap. Why would anyone, any day, unless it just so happens to be your lucky day?
Feels like I might also be missing something about ownership and caretaking of threads. I originally thought most threads, unless designated as Somebody's Playhouse or pix or personal ads, were simply cast out into the web for whatever currents take them. They might drift a while, then catch again. Is that a problem in some way I'm not seeing?
Thanks for info and insights. Laughs are an extra bonus.
