Anyone having a problem with "private messages" ? Several times I have gotten an email notifying me of a private message that turned out to be a private message I had already opened. I got an email today notifying me of a new private message but don't see a new message. Is this happening to anyone ?

We recently had a memo that our message box was nearly full. Simply deleted all incoming and send messages.
I lost some good shit but we'll get more.

Instead of deleting incoming messages, empty your sent folder. Also, you can save any message to your local machine.
Down at the bottom of the list is a dropdown box...you can select "download as".

What if I save them in the private folder or one of the others? Maybe they have more storage.
I'd liked to save some of those so I don't have to repeat over and over with new PM's
So far it's just easier to delete everything. We get the same questions whether it's a new member or someone we answered 100 times before.
We try to be polite and friendly plus we have stories with all of most answers.

I'm currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please be patient. Your PM's will be answered in the order they were received in unless you have sent me like a dozen fucking PM's. Then, I probably deleted all of your PM's in mass just to get rid of the trash cluttering my desk.

I had a pm from "FeliciaWhite" which was either spam or phishing. It disappeared before I logged in, but the notification that I had a pm was still there. I expect Laurel had a complaint and deleted all of "FeliciaWhite"s pms, but didn't delete the notification number.

Yeah, that's been happen with increasing frequency as of late. Now they are sending PM that say something like, I've read your posts or seen your profile and I want to talk. The profile has either cam girl or something similar and/or a blog site.
If you get any of this type of PM's report them using forward to Laurel.

I had precisely that problem.
It has nothing to do with anyone "messing with the control panel" etc ...it's just a vBulletin bug. It should go away as vB does it's scheduled cleanups...
(I run a large vBulletin forum - nothing to do with writing or erotica, but I'm familiar with the underlying technology.)

Most likely spam. Forward to Laurel and she will close the sender's account, and delete all PMs.

No matter how many folders you create, you still only get to have xxx number of messages combined. You probably only are able to have 250 messages, while someone like me with over 10,000 posts gets 750.
Better to download them to your machine, then empty the folders.
Oh and you don't have to delete them all. You can pick and choose. The checkbox to the right of the message. Check it, then go to the bottom and do the delete selected.

Yes. There is such a thing as an IP ban but these people use multiple, changing IPs. The only way to stop them is to forward the PM to Laurel every time.
That gets rid of them for you and everyone else until they come back under a new name.
