The Living Works of Art Challenge

...so I have to catch up I suppose.

Challenge 1. David 1 David 2

Challenge 2. Discobolus

Challenge 3. Adam 1 Adam 2

Challenge 4. Thinker

Challenge 5. Gaul 1 Gaul 2

Challenge 6. Apollo Belvedere

So very happy that you found this thread and I am quite happy that I found you.

How had you visualized it? I actually quite like the first one. The face blur works.
I am wondering if turning off the background light or turning towards it would have given you more of what you were looking for?
Well, the background light is actually a face, but it didn't photograph as such. I was going to caption it as the ghost of sculptors past. Oh well.

Alas, I am not one of those long, lean, graceful models I mentioned. I would be better described as short and lumpy, but I soldiered on:

Not graceful? Don't be silly. There is grace and beauty in your body and in your presentations sir. Your body if a work of art.

Personally I love seeing the diversity in the various body types. Each of you gentleman bring something different to each pose. You have each made them uniquely your own.

I know that what you said may have been tongue in cheek.. but please be assured our appreciation of all of you is sincere and heartfelt.

Thank you JRPerrone and thank all of the gentlemen that have graced this thread.

In am not an expert in photography and I can only tell you what I like, what I enjoy.

If your plan was for us to enjoy these wonderful pics then I say you succeeded. I am enjoying them.
:rose:
Thanks, Lovely. My photographic skills didn't quite measure up to what I had planned. Such is life.

I want to get mine in before this special exhibition closes and the next show opens. In these, I think the Gaul is not so much dying as that trying to do the NYT puzzle (the same that stumped The Thinker) is killing him. As for other statues in the background, I'll leave that to my sometime art director, Icy. I should add that we models appreciate all the patrons of the arts that pass through, make comments, and even try to touch the artwork (but keep the defibrilators handy).

Ah .... glendale you make me swoon but photo #3... all I can say is keep that defibrillator very close... Lovely is having heart palpitations...

Thank you for your kind words, Lovely. And your welcome, too. I gotta say, every time I come to one of your posts, those smoldering eyes make me weak in the knees. I so want to see more of you.

Well, this didn't turn out like I planned. But here they are anyway. Three, because I could pick the best. I like none.

Returned to private collection.

Did I miss the exhibit? Do I need an invitation to the private showing? How much is this going to cost and will there be food?

They might not have turned out the way you planned, but sometimes the ending result is better. The contrasts in your photos are phenomenal. I love the light play. The shadows hit all the right places and made your photographs very visually appealing. Of course having a great subject to photograph helps too. So glad I made your exhibit before it was returned to the vault. 😋 Thank you Wilderness.

Wow... Quite a gallery in one post. Great job with the poses. You have beautiful hands.

I don't know that anyone has ever complimented my hands before. So thank you! And it did take some time to put all those together. Some of them are trickier than they look. Thank you very much for commented. Any encouragement for all of us "artists" on here is I'm sure very appreciated :)

So very happy that you found this thread and I am quite happy that I found you.

I'm am also quite happy you found me :)

Oh, pffftt, dude, all your lumps are in the right places!! Wonderful!!
MsGD and I seem to be spending the day in the museum. My Apollo Belvedere is a Cardinal who, after a relatively rough season and another drubbing from the Cubs, has lost face and is now wearily leaning on a useless bat, wearing a towel around his neck, and pointing to the showers. As the Cubs used to say, wait till next year.
hehe, and until next year we can come here and gawk at you in the museum, woof!!

Marvelous Jack and about time!! Love ALL of them!!

Here's my stab at David (in middle age)

http://imgur.com/a/6ro7n

Welcome, Jordan. That is an excellent rendition of David. And don't worry, most of the rest of us are at least middle aged. Lizzie is right, though. The fine for late entry is that you need to catch up with the other 5 challenges!

Oh, pffftt, dude, all your lumps are in the right places!! Wonderful!!

Tali, you are always so sweet. :rose:

I love this thread. It's great to see more guys joining in, a veritable smorgasbord of deliciousness :D

Fabulous! Love the baseball theme (even though I know nothing about baseball, except that it's like rounders, yes?). Complements to MsGD, too

For many fans, baseball involves questions of life or death. Otherwise, it's just like rounders. And thanks for looking and commenting so sweetly.:rose:

On a separate note, I really like that the selected works are so varied, and play differently to the different frames we see on display in the museum. One week, it's something stretchy for the tall guys, one week something for those with the iron abs and muscular shoulders and so on...

In some ways, it's more interesting to see what the guys do who match the week's original the least physically. And would it be pretentious to say that I think I will look at actual sculpture differently now?

Not pretentious at all. Might be presumptuous if you touch the artwork, but that's allowed here.

You like #3 the best? So you want to be sneaking up on me from behind? Actually, that could be very nice.

hehe, and until next year we can come here and gawk at you in the museum, woof!!

Gawkers always welcome!
