I'm glad to be part of it. And I did the best I could I hope that I did the originals some justice.

Alas, I am not one of those long, lean, graceful models I mentioned. I would be better described as short and lumpy, but I soldiered on:

The draping, the posture, the strength in the arms--all beautifully captured :rose:

But you still have your fingers and thumb on your right hand. I'm a little disappointed in your lack of commitment :(

MsGD and I seem to be spending the day in the museum. My Apollo Belvedere is a Cardinal who, after a relatively rough season and another drubbing from the Cubs, has lost face and is now wearily leaning on a useless bat, wearing a towel around his neck, and pointing to the showers. As the Cubs used to say, wait till next year.

Excellent, Mr. G, we can always count on you for a creative, unexpected take on the artwork.

Welcome, bearded wonder! You've been a busy man. Excellent job catching up. I think your Discobolus is my favorite among all of your fine artwork.

Ladies! . . . fresh meat! I mean art!

And you don't have to be, variety is the spice of life ;) and you do look buff ;) :D

Well, I thought sex was the spice of life, but I guess variety works. ;)

Thanks for the compliments . . . but just for that commitment comment, I might just add "Venus de Milo" to the ladies challenge and see how you handle all those broken limbs. :D

Thank you very much. I really like the warm welcome I'm getting.

I'm glad you enjoyed them, I enjoyed taking the pics for everyone.

Brilliant - love the baseball bat too!

You're too kind.:rose:

From an archer to a baseball player. I like the way you make it modern.
:rose:

Thanks, but my body is far from classic, so I have no choice.

Nice bat glendale ;)

I guess I was asking for that one. You put a good swing on it.

Very clever rendition of Apollo. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Looks like that Cardinal lives to play another day. Great job, Glendale. Thank you.

Posing didn't kill me, and these kinds of comments make me stronger.

I love the way you always put a different spin on the artwork. Well done.

I love the way you love the way.

Excellent, Mr. G, we can always count on you for a creative, unexpected take on the artwork.

I wouldn't be able to do it without the curator who opened the museum.:rose:

You may not be as tall as some of the museum's contributors, but you have a lovely classical V-shaped torso which pleases the eye very much. And Mara's right, you've nailed the draping there. Excellent

Fabulous! Love the baseball theme (even though I know nothing about baseball, except that it's like rounders, yes?). Complements to MsGD, too

Ooh! A big delivery of new work. Excellent. Might need a lock-in to get round everything...

On a separate note, I really like that the selected works are so varied, and play differently to the different frames we see on display in the museum. One week, it's something stretchy for the tall guys, one week something for those with the iron abs and muscular shoulders and so on...

In some ways, it's more interesting to see what the guys do who match the week's original the least physically. And would it be pretentious to say that I think I will look at actual sculpture differently now?

What sweet and thoughtful words Numi. I'm kinda hoping I please a few other body parts besides the eye. :D

I know, isn't it interesting? I see the same thing already playing out in the female thread. (Your entry is coming soon, right?)

I briefly thought about throwing in Buddha as one of the challenges. Now that would stretch some of our artistic boundaries, eh?

I did what I could with what I have. I'm very glad you liked my versions of these classic poses. And take as much time as you'd like, I'm here for a long while ;)

You catch up and catch on very well. Just like going through a gallery devoted to one artist.

It was quite a busy time getting all those poses as close as I could. I'm a little excited for the next challenge, hopefully the response will be as positive!

I hadn't thought of it that way but that is an interesting perspective. And the "artist" thanks you :)

I agree completely. The gentleman have done an excellent job with their renditions of the art. Each and every one is beautiful in their own way. Just like snowflakes, each is different and unique. And to see their thought processes as they recreate their versions of the art piece is interesting.

And no, definitely not pretentious. I do believe that each time the ladies here see one of the artworks displayed here one of the gentleman from the thread will immediately flood their thoughts. It will be interesting to see who would pop into our minds when seeing an artwork not represented here. Which of the men would it be that would create the best rendition of that piece. Definitely a new perspective.

Well, this didn't turn out like I planned. But here they are anyway. Three, because I could pick the best. I like none.

Returned to private collection.
