*sigh* I wish. He seems like the type who could make this happen. And make it happen really, really well.

*nods head vehemently in agreement*

they're good with tools. contraptions. moving parts. hooking things up. now I'm all wet.

Good morning crew.

How often do you challenge yourself? Or do you avoid challenges altogether opting to walk longer around a hill than just going over it? Will you modify your goal based on the challenges in front of you or do you set goals such that you'll overcome any challenge along the way?

I'll divide my answer into two parts because I can. :) My work challenges me every day, both technically and personally, so there is always a lot of growth going on there. On the personal level I don't challenge myself daily - I do challenge myself on a weekly rhythm. I challenge myself to learn something new and go/do something new every week. In borderline OCD I keep lists so I can see the process through the year.

I probably challenge myself more personally when I have fewer challenges in my professional life. Or, put another way, I have less energy for stretching myself in my personal life if work is busy and/or stressful. My personal challenges are probably more physical than cerebral, whereas my work is the other way around, so what I've said above doesn't make a lot of sense, but there it is

That said, I decided earlier this week after a chat with another lady Litster to challenge myself to try frogs' legs next summer in France :D

Like others have said, my behavior tends to be different between my personal and professional life. For my job, I have to challenge myself and my team to deliver under often unrealistic timeframes and expectations. So in my personal life, I tend to rebel and do very little of that.
