Foods you hate?

I think you just haven't had them prepared the right way. Probably growing up they were served to you boiled or steamed and were a mushy mess. Try roasting with some olive oil and garlic.

I've tried them deep fried with bacon & melted cheese.
I lamented the waste of bacon & cheddar.

Then again one of my fav summer cocktails is a Painkiller.

You have eaten them then? I have and they are delicious. (psst they are not really that old)

disclaimer: My diet is ridiculously limited, and I in no way seek to criticize the likes and dislikes of others.

But...
Did you see the list of foods I hate?
I don't even want to see those eggs in person, let alone put them anywhere near my mouth.

tomatoes - it's a texture thing. They trigger my gag reflex. Can't do it.

followed by -

brussel sprouts
okra
mango
lamb
onion (unless it's cooked down to hell and back. it's fine as a seasoning.)
cooked greens (spinach, collard greens, etc... Love fresh spinach though)
seafood (save for shrimp)

So glad most of you aren't my kids, LOL!
Or you're probably glad you're not one of my kids, mom makes one dinner and you eat it or you are welcome to make yourself cereal, ramen or a sandwich. I see all these mommy blogs where mom's are peeling the breading off the backside of a chicken nugget, peeling grapes, putting butter on 1/4 of the toast piece no more no less and I think yeah...um...no!
I had 8 kids, none of them ever starved, but they also were never picky about eating anything. I never made a id eat something they didn't like, I do encourage them to taste stuff. Now I have 2 who don't care for rice, one doesn't lie beans, my baby(she's 11 but my baby) says sushi is poison, but for the most part they'll all eat anything.

I do get the texture thing, I can do liver because of the texture and me and my oldest son have aspergers so I really do understand about textures.

Seafood
Vegetables
Red meat
Vinegar or anything containing vinegar
Anything soy-based
Anything mixing too many textures
Dark chocolate
Beans
Condiments
Baked goods with lemon........

Let's just say, the list of things I will it is much shorter than the list of things I won't

:eek::eek::eek:

Those are all my favorite things! Well, barring some beans and condiments. Either we can't be friends anymore... OR we are the perfect friends because I can eat whatever you don't want.

I have to know, though, what DO you eat?

Boiled okra

Ditto. Fried, yes. Boiled, ew.

I'm not a fan of liver unless it's mixed up in something else. I've also stopped buying lunchmeats (unless it's from a deli) and stuff for salad. I finally admitted I just hate salads. When I realized I was a grownup and I didn't have to eat salads if I didn't want to, I was suddenly free. I'll eat the contents of a salad on a sandwich with other things but not in a bowl by itself. Veggies are good but I prefer them hot.

Kimchi - not a favorite. There are certain kinds I like but only in very small quantities.

I have no fucking willpower :(

Yeah when my ex explained to me what it was I was like, well why on earth would you even try that!
But he comes from a family of hunters and they kill and eat pretty much anything, within the law of course, so he's tried really about anything.

My dad made me try a turnip when I was a kid. I barfed in my plate.

I still hate those fucking things. And beets. Beets are just red fucking turnips.

Other than that my palate is pretty open.

The thing I want to know is what foods you don't care much for that it seems like everyone should like.

Mine is marshmallows. I can eat them. I don't hate them, but I don't like them. I avoid anything that has them, and roasting them is out for me. And smores... Why ruin perfectly good chocolate and graham crackers with a marshmallow?

Option 2. Perfect friends. Duh.
My ex would constantly eat off my plate the things I couldn't stomach. He also did all the cooking, tailoring meals that I could eat. It's a shame we didn't work out.

I'll eat processed red meats (ham, hot dogs, burgers, some sausages) and most poultry.
Breakfast foods: eggs, bacon, um... bread stuffs
Many Italian dishes
Some fruits
There's more, I'm sure.

I've never tried fried okra, I might have to try it.

I like it. There's a southern-style restaurant chain in the mid-Atlantic (Cracker Barrel) that serves it, and I like theirs. That's the only place I've had it.

I can manage brussel sprouts now that I get them fixed the way described up the line--sauteed in garlic.

This list of foods weirdly makes sense to me. At least you still have a good variety to pick from.

I fully admit to liking Cracker Barrel. That should probably embarrass me but the menu is good and it's all comfort food. Sometimes all I want is meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

Another place that makes decent fried okra is a quick service chain called Dickey's Barbecue Pit.

I can manage brussel sprouts now that I get them fixed the way described up the line--sauteed in garlic.

You can also saute them with bacon or roast them and toss with balsamic vinegar. So tasty.

We have a Cracker Barrel here. We've been thinking about trying it, maybe I'll be brave and try the fried okra.

Their biscuits are Heaven* :)

*to this Northeasterner, at least.

I only get to a Cracker Barrel when we travel. The hoity toity university town I live in won't approve one because their signs tend to be obtrusive.

dried fruits

i hate raisins, dates, figs - any dried fruits. Gimme fruits that are moist and juicy

Except sun-dried tomtoes can be good in recipes. The exception to my rule

My now ex husband was in the Marines, traveled a lot, and said there was only one thing ever he couldn't stomach...balut.

Agreed; anytime you crack open an egg and find a beak staring at you, you are definitely justified in hurling - I did...

I honestly think this was the only food he ever did throw up. And I still wonder...why did he eat it!!!! LOL!!!!

Cracker Barrel is the only restaurant I've ever gotten food poisoning at. I was sick for a week and didn't fully recover from stomach spasms until about a month later.
I was brave though and have eaten there twice since. At different locations though.
I love to browse their shop after I eat. A lot of cool things to be had!
