This seems like a silly question, but I am curious. How do you connect with other writers, if you do? I tried going to a writing group two years ago but it didn't work out very well. I would love any suggestions. Thank you in advance. Oh and I would love to befriend fellow writers on here. I am trying to socialize more and not be such a hermit. :)

Ogg's suggestion is a great one.

JBJ, not so much.

Here on Lit, try the PM (Private Message) system.Find an author whose stories you like and drop them a note. There are some great people around here. Most would love to hear from you.

Well this forum is a writer's group in a sense. People pop in here everyday and talk about writing.

Good luck finding civil writers at LIT

:D You get what you give and in your case... lets just say you give a lot of shit.

To the OP, please ignore Noirtrash/JBJ he's the AH's pet troll. Not that we had any say in him showing up to shit on the floor.

This here AH is a great place to start. Eat your veggies, write your story and mind the rules and trolls.

Good luck.

Write. Then ask author's opinions on your writing. If someone posts a comment to your story with their name, click on their name to see if they are a writer. If they are, send them a PM saying you appreciated their comment and would like to talk about writing. In my little experience, your only going to have interesting conversations with writers who write for the same categories as you do.

One of the best ways, apart from through the Authors' Hangout, is to participate in NaNoWriMo and join a local NaNoWriMo group.
"Here's my latest story. It starts when she's seven and ends when her dad takes her virginity at eighteen. Give it a gander and tell me what you think."

That would go over great at the local NaNoWriMo group.

Just a suggestion: Pick out some stories that you like. Pm the authors...no response is the worst thing thet can happen.

Actually, Nano has an erotic section. Not an underage section. That will get you booted quicker there than here and permanently.

There are writer groups that have formed through lit that made their own site/forum.

Wait, no, no there's not. They don't exist.

Sorry, couldn't resist a little 'in' joke there.

I met a couple of writers through last nano, I ended up in a random writing cabin and it was a fun experience. I was working on horror at the time which is why I was paired with them. I had to bite my tongue when someone started talking about 'you think I can get away with some explicit sex in my story?"

I simply responded. I've gotten away with it a time or two.;)

Oy...it seems like a lot of writers don't like people in general. But I'm kind of tired of being alone, out of my own fault. Some company would be nice.

Round here, we have the "Naked Lounge" which is often a place to catch up with fellow Litsters. Take care about the rules, though.

The Authors' Hangout here certainly will be about as close as you can get with interacting with other authors here. I don't suggest that you try that on the General Board.

The GB is the LW of the forums.

When author's-the ones who drive the site-have the nerve to go over there we get hate threads named after us.

I suggested the other day that RJLoaded thread on you be changed to Sean as the focus seems to have changed.

Yeah, I haven't posted there in months, its the LJ/ Renaud show.

I talk to Sean quite a bit, he wants to see how long LJ will keep blathering at him. He should know the answer is he'll never stop, its the most attention he's ever gotten.

I keep trying to get him-Sean-to post here, he writes quite a bit and has some good ideas and perspectives on things.

As someone who was/is in a similar spot, just keep posting here. Be social, exchange ideas. Others have recommended sending feedback to other authors. This is a great idea and how I've met a few people. We sometimes talk by email and/or twitter. @Literotica exists, by the way, and they retweet authors when new stories go up.

If you're having any kind of social anxiety, just take a deep breath and think about the big picture. Don't get too hung up on any one person or their responses to you. This place has a wide variety of personalities and you'll meet all kinds. You're bound to click with some.

Jesus. There are rules to AH?? Was there some Welcome packet I was supposed to get?

All of this, basically.

And don't put pressure on yourself to rush anything. Give yourself time to settle in and get a feel for the strange cast of characters here. Someone whose post you connect with on one thread may make you cringe in another.

Then again, I didn't follow my own advice, and I've had really good luck with people, so far :)

AH (this forum) can be friendly. Like anywhere, there are some grumpy people (I see JBJ has already been out) and a couple of psychos, but it's mostly calm and generally nice. (If someone seems nasty, just set Ignore on them. It solves all problems.)

As noted, find authors that write stuff you like, and chat with them. Everyone likes feedback on their stories, and discussion.

Ultimately, what works best is to publish a body of work here - fans will start interacting with you and some writers will as well. It's slow but steady.

And if not some writers make up their own fans to post vanity threads and use pictures from porn sites as their picture.

I know that sounds sad, but I heard A person actually did that recently.
