Multiculturalism

An absolutely brilliant long term marketing strategy that Jobs started in 1978.

Ishmael

I was in no way at all insulting the play. Though I've always thought it was just one of those race cases of dumb luck. Jobs helped schools that couldn't afford computers, and when Apple was gonna die the government returned the favor.

Regardless it all worked out and I've got no complaints.

After trying to see him from this vantage point, I'm still in two minds about Bill Gates.
Is he a genuine philanthropist who's also trying to kill two birds with one stone (help poor countries while limiting population growth), or an eugenicist in disguise?

"At the conference, Gates spoke hopefully about the impact of vaccines in the developing world, suggesting that poor families will not feel compelled to have as many children if more of their children are able to survive to adulthood, a view that many population specialists agree with. This would be beneficial in another way, Gates pointed out, because fewer people would ultimately mean lower CO2 emissions."

Because:

1.On one hand, even if he's more upfront about these issues, his points are valid.
- One can't dispute the fact that the world population is increasing ( Africa being in the lead) and that if it continues at this rate, it might end up at unsustainable levels. Even if this topic would make a field day for all the racists out there, it's true.
- Also: one can't deny the fact that his humanitarian acts in Africa save many lives, especially those of children: vaccines that would decrease mortality rates in kids, Monsanto crops to avoid malnutrition and death.

And even if the principles and views that drive his humanitarian acts were a bit Malthusian, so be it! Why not have both? His donations haven't harmed anyone. On the contrary.

2.On the other hand:
There's something a bit disconcerting about the manner in which he phrases things, and about the fact that he's so overtly focused on the African continent.
- And about the fact that he seems to be one-track minded about where he puts his money into.
I haven't seen him donate money for AIDS treatment in Africa, or finance research to find a cure for AIDS.
And I haven't seen him lobby against the other factors that are destroying our atmosphere, like car emissions and pollution, and so on.

Population growth is slowing and we grow more food per capita than ever in human history.

We do not need gmo crops and we don't need vaccinations sterilising young women in Africa.

Gates is an oligarch who is acting in his class' interests. The capitalist class.

Don't forget the chemtrails and black helicopters.

Look, the guy who can't whine about ad hominem without using one.

I make no secret of my contempt for libertards.

And here's a clue for beginners, my comment would only be ad hominem if you'd actually presented an argument.

So you fail again.

As would mine, dunce.

You haven't advanced any argument.

So, umm, yeah ....

You've rarely posed an arguement and never advanced one. Declaring your oponent's defeat is not advancing an argument. As you alluded the other day, your rhetoric is not suitible for junior high debate.

Moving the goal posts again.

Like most libertoonians, you're just a selfish spoilt brat that thinks rules are for others.

Why can't you stop whining and argue each discussion on its merits?

Do you know what epistemology is?

You libertarians are just believers. You don't process.

These things can be a two edge sword.
For some reason, it all reminded me of China's one-child policy:

Which seemed sortof reasonable to start with, given that birth rates were increasing and unsustainable, with the limitted resources (incl. food) that they had.
But decades later: strange: the male to female ratio changed dramatically in favour of men.

Now having a boy instead of a girl works better for an impoverished family (help them work the field, no dowry).
-- So let us not beat around the bush: I'm certain that there were cases of infanticide, or even of abortions in hospital that were performed past the accepted pregnancy date. Poor families don't always have good access to healthcare, to be able to plan these things properly, without resorting to the extreme measures above.

But I bet that their government and media concealed these cases, because otherwise there would have been a public uproar and pouff! their one-child policy would've gone out of the window.

Our daughter was simply abandoned; she was lucky enough to end up in one of the "model" orphanages that allowed adoptions to the US. It was a tiny, dirty, cramped facility that would have been shut down here.

The only thing that seems to lower birth rates is a relative level of prosperity.

I suspect that might be a chicken-and-egg thing. People that put off having children tend to have higher levels of prosperity for obvious reasons children are expensive.

Is there an argument you're making in this screed? Do you own a mirror you could easily be describing every one of your posts here there are plenty of discussions that you could join in on you joined in on none of them other than to pose idiotic rhetorical questions repetitively.

Maybe he's actually a bot. He does seem to repeat the same things frequently. Just randomly spinkled throughout...Straw Men ... ad hominem...moving the goalposts when none of the above applied to the post that he's using such terms in.

Likes to throw out libtard and libtoonian when we are not even discussing systems of government. It just doesn't even make any sense.

I can't see Sergeant Spidey being clever enough to be this creatively stupid, so maybe it's just Frodo fucking with us.

Thanks.
Nice to read something else than the typical GB "What did X eat for dinner" and "Who's more stupid: Trump, Hillary or Obama? "

I don't know where you are from originally, and I'm not interested in knowing.
But there was this other poster calked Nezhul (a russian) who was very knowledgeable in history and so on (lol the books that he quoted : most american and british posters didn't even know that they existed). He provided a good challenge to the forum by not buying into the R-L paradigm, and he had a more global approach to things. Unfortunately, a few posters who tried to shut him down got on his nerves and he eventually left.

I hope you'll stay for longer.
Because I noticed that you started by being quite polite, and now you're throwing the word "idiot" around quite a bit, which for me is a sign that some of the GB political shenanigans (attack the source instead of engaging in a debate etc.) got on your nerves.
Bad signs. Just like a few other political posters who eventually quit posting.

In saying that, if you'll stick for longer you'll see that the attacks and biceps measuring are just superficial, and that, -with the exception of four or so trolls- beneath it most political posters are actually quite interested in debates, and are well informed.

I think this is just a great idea I think the two of you should start a thread and that you should engage each other in wildly interesting informative topics with all of the depth that this guy is capable of.

He's obviously very very knowledgeable about everything that he weighs in on. He's giving you some excellent pointers on how to Google for confirmation bias.

I very much look forward to reading these scintillating exchanges.

And you're absolutely right. Your histrionics and his tromping into a room full of strangers stamping his feet and calling everyone else idiots is a clear sign that other people are not recognizing his genius or yours. If only they would.

You don't like competition and you're clearly envious. Nice shot trying to run him off the board, the way you tried with the other guy as well.

Nice carrying of water for RacistDownSouth. Is there a phrase that you won't repeat eventually? It just seems like you're nothing but a parrot. You pick up these little idioms clips and phrases and repeat them in ways that make no sense. How does engaging a guy who clearly likes to argue amount to running him off the board?

The actual origin of that phrase was Rob saying, "You aren't the first newb I have had to run off teh board." He has since turned it around in what he calls board Jiu-Jitsu where he now claims that I said I would run him off the board when he failed to dissuade me from posting.

He is good at getting the easily impressionable like you to repeat things that he says.

The GEEBEE features three poster styles: DEEP THINKER, Deep Drinker, and deep stinker. ROB is the tail end of the line.
