THE STORY has permeated our culture completely.

Here we see that people who could divine a call to assassination in a Trump speech listen to politicians who are using the openly using the threat of force and violence of their communities to extract sympathy (and hopefully money) from the Federal government whom are completely unable to see anything amiss in their comments as if we are hearing them wrong.

They look to the mayor and some ancillary council whose job it is to be the PR people for the city as the story while ignoring the politicians in the same press conference who were speaking to their people and their righteous anger over being oppressed by the cops (and white privilege).

I don't know where posters ever got the idea that you might have an issue with black people.

No, I said against the backdrop of a burning city, politicians were calling for more violence.

I then found the written comments that reflected what I was seeing on television.

Where's Frodo to express outrage that the dead guy was carrying a "rapid fire" gun with an evil "semi-automatic mechanism" fed from a "high capacity" magazine.

I can't figure out why they would riot because of that guy. I could understand rioting if:

The guy killed was an unarmed, law-abiding citizen that was shot in the back by a white cop.

But the reality is:

The guy was a hardened criminal with a long rap sheet. He was armed with a gun that he stole from a burglary. He was repeatedly told by the cop to drop the weapon. Not only does he not drop it but he points it at the cop...the black cop that shot him in the chest. Plus from what I've heard on the news, the cop's body cam footage will corroborate it according to those that have seen the footage.

White people wouldn't riot for that guy if he was white. Everyone would have thought that the lowlife deserved what he got, end of story. They wouldn't set fire to the neighborhood that they live in.

Madness...

But look at the first printed stories and the people interviewed by the press obsessed with the story. He was described as a beloved and valued member of their community by more than one hand-picked witness. If he was actually and really a valued and beloved member of his community, that speaks volumes about the community. In light of the number of churches that are in the immediate vicinity and listening to the black pastors of the area speaking, I don't think the press was actually giving us a cross-section of the community and its attitudes, but were actively seeking out the feral population so that they could report on THE STORY and win the admiration of their peer group in the national press whom have no idea what Milwaukee is like.

Eventually, every black man who is shot by a cop in the commission of a felony, during felony flight, while brandishing a weapon, assaulting a cop, attempting to run down a cop or shooting at a cop will be shot by black cop because there will be no white cops working in black neighborhoods. Then what?

It's already true that controlling for variables, a white man is more likely to be shot than a black man under similar circumstances, but that doesn't matter as long as there is a quarterly shooting of a black man where the initial (often factually incorrect) report suggest that the shooting was unjustified and a single incident of a white man being arrested successfully without being shot exists. Never mind that blacks have far more contact with cops per capita than whites and the vast majority do not result in shootings.

Hate to tell ya, but the shit that goes on in my birthplace extends back before you were born. There were issues that were systematic. Now they don't have to be. High crime rate equals high patrols and police effort, equals a disproportionate number of arrests and traffic stops versus population data. Equals "opprrssion". And the facts work for both sides.

The segregation started before brown v Boe and hasn't gotten better. Cultural changes have ecsaserbated the problems found within poor minority neighborhoods.

There's so much wrong with the community that this happened in, that I wouldn't even know which problem to address first given the power to only fix one of them.

I used to call Milwaukee the armpit of Wisconsin cuz it was disgusting and there was a lot of murders and things there didn't happen where I was butt then me and the Canadian when there and had fish tacos and walked around and it was beautiful Milwaukee is a very pretty place if you like it to know. It.

Milwaukee has a few problems. Okay, more than a few. I agree with Jezzi that it's a pretty place. Lots of activities and festivals. But I'm biased-- Milwaukee's my home town. On the other hand, I don't want to move back.

As with any ethnic group, whether it may be black, white or any color in between, you will have good people who are law abiding ones and on the flip side you have the thug element who have guns and feel the law does not apply to them. So along comes authority in the form of police who catch them in their various crimes and because police hold them accountable for their actions, then oooh the police are racists and bad guys. Be respectful to those in authority and keep your nose clean---probably that would take care of 90% of this problem.
