Is it a date or a friend asking if you want to go to a movie or something? There is a difference. Two male buddies can go to a movie, grab something to eat and then stop at a bar for a couple of beers. But if you want to eat somewhere nice, dress a bit better than you usually do and get some time in on the dance floor, you almost need a female buddy for that.

When he wants to hang out he will normally text and say, "Hey, (insert band name) is playing this weekend. Wanna go?" or "I heard this movie is pretty cool. Wanna see it?" But to actually text me and say, "Would you like to go on a date?" I'm thinking that's more than our usual hanging out as friends.

I guess changing my phone number is too extreme. I so don't handle uncomfortable situations well.
