I like reading loving wives stories. I don't always agree with the outcome or how the story is written but try to keep an open mind. I've published a couple of stories here and the comments are pretty bad. Almost bad enough for me to publish stories in a different category. There seems to be a lack of stories written in this category. Do you think it is because of all the negative feedback?

Like it or not, but publishing in LW requires taking quite harsh comments on the chin. I've only published one one LW, and while it's got the lowest vote score of all my stories, it has the most favs, most votes, and most comments, including the most death threats. Problem is that readers expect very different things out of that category, and particularily those who hate women get very provoked when they don't get what they want. There also seems to be some dissonance between what they get turned on by, and what their moral tells them they should.

I love posting in LW, only because I don't allow voting or comments. Imagine the frustration of a LW hater reading the story and then not being able to vent his venom in a nasty comment.

If they cant attack your LW story, do attack another one for spite?

I've posted three in LW, and one in particular has a similar result to yours. most views, most votes, most comments, not sure about the favorites because I never counted them, but I wouldn't be surprised. The other two also have elevated views comments and votes - and probably favorites. And my lowest scores.
I think you hit on the reason.
Each time I posted an LW story I noticed a general drop in the scores of many of my other stories. On the upside the mysterious sweeps have often cleaned out the one bombs on the other stories.
Speaking of sweeps I had a story recently get several votes swept away during the first few weeks after I posted it, and each time the score went down. C'est la vie.

I haven't seen that happening, at least no nasty comments. As for votes, I do see a couple of 1-bombs every once in awhile, but they are quickly swept away.

My feeling is that the authors there who try to put up non flaming stories are getting tired of being flamed anyway and are-as the op is thinking of doing-going to other categories.
Being thick skinned is one thing, but knowing you're going to take a beating on every story is a different story.
Pretty soon LW may reach the point where its flaming authors and the flaming readers taking the bait and that's it.
I'm sure there is a faction of decent readers there, but they're getting more and more outnumbered as time goes by.

Get some thick skin and learn to take the sugar with the salt. I would never post a story in LW. I'm content posting stories in erotic horror, sci-fi& fantasy, and transexuals& cd's; maybe gay male. I'm not looking for high views, or tons of votes. An honest comment is worth its weight in gold to me.

You may be thick skinned, but many aren't.
And again, people do not want to post where they are going to be abused by a bunch of asshats regardless of what their content is.
The problem is the readership-at least the most vocal part of it-is venom spewing trash. And most people think, who needs that? They can post in EC or somewhere else and get comments from people who don't type with hooves.

That, my dear LC, is exactly what is wrong with the entire world. The vast majority of people standing up and talking are the, in your words, asshats! The rest of us just get shouted down and walk away shaking our heads.

Many think LW is where the good stuff is.
I worked in a ship yard several years ago. Its no place for snowflakes and Texas candyasses. On one occasion I gifted a big nigger with my YOURE NUMBER 1 finger. It made him sad and he came after me. I was sitting on the floor when he found me. The mother fucker musta been 7 feet tall, and threatened to kick me. Niggers are all mouth and noisy.
So I looked up at him and replied. "Move that foot and I'll fuck it up." People cant fight with hurt feet. I learned that lesson after I broke a guys leg. He wanted to kick my ass but you cant kick ass with a broke leg.

As a LW reader, consequence stories mostly, I would recommend turning off anonymous comments if you post in LW. Remove them, and watch 90% of the hate spewing comments disappear.
Many consequence writers have been doing this for awhile now, and the threats that they used to receive regularly have mostly dried up. The writers in the other subgroups of LW seem to be starting to go that way too.
On a side note, lovecraft68, thanks for using the term asshats. Every time I see, read, or write asshats it makes me grin.

I like LW. I don't much like the Men's Rights Activists who hang out there, but they're honest, and they deliver a real experience for authors. If you're all worried about scores you shouldn't visit, since yours will almost certainly be low. Last story I posted there got one of my all-time favorite Anonymous comments, which ended like this:
I love the mix of love and hate in that, the lovely LW trope of the physical reaction to a story (so many LW readers are germophobes and obsessed with digestive functions!), and the strange generosity of it. Not all LW readers are so generous. When you make them really mad, they'll go around to a lot of your other stories (not all--they're mostly pretty lazy) dropping one-bombs on them. Doesn't matter--Laurel and Manu come around and clean up the wreckage after a few days.
Even very old stories there continue to be read and voted on--and what's better than a passionate reader? Next time I get an idea for a story that belongs in LW, I won't hesitate to post there again.
