Anyone in history. Who could solve the USA problem?

I got this idea from another thread. Asking for all to think about both sides of all the killings and riots/protests/terrorist things that have happened in the last year in the US.

There is plenty of blame to go around but let's try another idea. Who in world history do you think would be able to step in and handle it best and why?

The why is the important part. You are going to have to live in the new world created.

Ghandi or even better Nelson Mandela to solve racial issues.

Non-violence is the answer.

An Elizabeth I who did a fantastic job of keeping Protestants and Catholics happy, relatively speaking. And created a very unified country in the face of outside threats.

Another FDR or maybe a JFK might be good. Yanks prefer homegrown ideas. Or ones they can claim as US invented.

I think FDR is my firm answer.

I know this is a hard question. Who could solve all the problems. The real answer is no one could wave a magic wand and make everyone happy. The real problem is who kind find the middle ground to go forward.

Who could balance all the problems and deal with the backlash from everyone.

MY guess. Abraham Lincoln.

No....

The answer is NO ONE.

I expect this thread to die quickly. It requires thought to respond. Nothing as simple as "x" SUCKS.

JFK really wasn't on the world stage long enough for me to decide. All the others you mentioned certainly were.

Gandi should be mentioned.

4 million Chinese labourers.

To build the wall around the US.

How about a team of North Korean technicians to assemble nukes for EMP strikes on the US. Give the Yanks a reason to cooperate. Rebuilding from a pre-industrial level of technology.

I could add a germ warfare expert from some terrorist group. But that would be cruel.

Come on Rom. I was asking a serious question.

Abe Lincoln. He broke a bunch of rules. Habeas corpus for one. When the south gave up he didn't want a pound of flesh from them. Pissed off everyone but moved the country in the right direction.

Solve the US problem? Really anybody with the gall to take on the police and the finesse to convince them we really believe they are all special butterflies except that one guy.

George Washington

What a flawed guy. Owned slaves. Say I guess that means we should write him off right? That would mean ignoring history at the time. Slavery was prevalent all over the world. If that is where your argument ends no need to read further.

He also refused a permanent leader role (president). He thought 8 years was enough. Want to argue that? Check history.

Maybe Stalin, he'd pick one side and exterminate them or send them to gulags.

I am confused. Did you name anyone?

Give someone....anyone....the power to summarily execute up to ten people in Congress over the course of his/her term, and I guarantee you that you'd see the quickest return to bipartisan legislation ever.

You got one serious answer out of me. If the American people say no can fix it. Then the world should build a wall around the US. At least Canada should. We just need a pipe inlet for our oil and one for our softwood lumber.

A lot of people had slaves because they thought it was okay.

I'm not thinking that would be the guy you want to live under.

Oh hell no.

Maybe a charismatic combo of a salt and pepper President and Vice President.

Martin Luther King and Thomas Jefferson.
