What pissed you off today? Mark II

It occurred to me that all across the world, the most informed civilizations that have ever existed on Earth are all quickly dying from ignorance.

And that Brexit is reminiscent of Trump's wall.

I think my cat is generally more sadistically amused than happy.

That last line is either ignorance, stupidity, or both.

Since I was a fan of Ferguson at the time, I kept up best I could on talk of Scotland getting independence.... Regardless, Brexit (as I understand) is happening due to what UK people want, not what person in another country wants regarding them.

What p'ed me off tonight? Talked to parent about thing I posted about the other day, & they repeatedly told me I didn't have to agree with what they said to please them, & to "excuse (their) French", even after multiple times of me saying I was with them & the language was OK.

I mean it's similar to the wall in that it's an unnecessarily large and very isolationist step to take instead of following less extreme alternatives. In the brexit case; alternatives to curb foreign immigration and increase national autonomy.

Also different in way(s) I described, so at worst for either, we are both right.

Pissed off today? Not really at all, except that I continue to get E-mail responses about BIG news I sent people days ago that another relative made me reconsider since I sent that mail.

Uuuuggghhh

Okay, so I work at Zaxby's, a fast-casual restaurant that specializes in chicken. Today I was forced to do with a most unpleasant character. Here's what happened. So this guy orders a large plate, which comes with seven fingers and two slices of toast, and orders it to go. We give it to him and all is fine at first. Two minutes later and he comes back complaining that there was food missing. After listening to what was missing, the problem was obvious; he'd instead received a regular plate: only 5 fingers and one slice of toast. Okay, no big deal right? Just give him the missing food and it's all good. Hell, I was even going to give him a free cookie since it was my fault (I'm supposed to double check the orders and forgot to). I told him that we would happily correct the issue, and to just bring the order inside so that we can fix it (we like to just put the extra food in the original boxes to save on supplies and because it's less of a hassle long term). Again, not much of an issue, right?

Wrong.

He storms out of the store and comes back with his food. He places his food on the table and the following pleasantries ensue.

Him: What's with you guys? You think I'm lying, that's it?
Me: No sir, it's store policy. We-
Him: Know what, no, forget this. I want a refund.
Me: Sir?
Him: You heard me. I want my money back!
Me: Alright sir-
Him: Gimme a refund, I want my @?!$ing money back. (Yes, he is dropping the f-bomb on our front line. In front of other customers. This is a respectable establishment, mind you.)

It was at this point that I realized I would need backup, so I told the man that I was going to get a manager to authorize the refund. So I go to the back of the store, where our MOD is washing dishes, because he's a respectable manager that actually does work and doesn't just bark orders. I tell him the situation. He's annoyed at first until I mention the swearing, then he goes silent.

"He's swearing?"
"Yes, sir."
"... Give me a minute, I'll be right up."

So I head back up front. The guy gives me a dirty look as if to say "Where is the manager?" I inform him that the manager will be with him in a moment. In the mean time the order has been corrected, and I place it back on the counter. Now, I'm not entirely sure what happened next. According to my manager, he managed to look the guy in the eye from across the store, and when he saw him coming, only then did the guy take the food and leave. In any case, he never got his refund.

*Sigh* It just amazes me that people can get worked up over such trivial crap.

Retail! People are crazy. You're a saint.

That being said, I wanted you to know I LOVE ZAXBY'S. I'd eat it every day. Thank goodness we don't have it up north.

Chilcot report, imposition of junior doctors contracts, politicians destroying the economy then walking away washing their hands of it, sterling in free fall, and now Wales are losing at football. Not a good time to live in the UK.

But at least Andy won...

More a head shaker, than a pissed off...

So I'm talking to a colleague this afternoon about an idea I had that could bridge the service gap my industry struggles with re: online shopping vs brick & mortar. I'm just thinking out loud, prefacing the entire conversation with "this would take more capital than I feel comfortable successfully raising, but..."

I spent a good hour going in circles with the woman, because she couldn't hear what I was saying.

Sigh.

In my business we do 98% of it online because that's where it moved to over the last 5 years. I wish we could get rid of the brick and mortar but the vendors we buy from require us to have one in order to sell their merchandise to us.

It pisses me off because it would be so nice to not have to deal with the public.

And I deal in an industry that although the a lot of product is sold online, there are too many variables to not take advantage of B&M resources... Even if people don't realize it.

As a member of the public, I feel the same about the workers at many stores, eateries, etc.

However, I usually remind myself that the workers likewise have to put up with us... That is why (IMO) they are allowed to overprice so many things, whereas we get no money for having to put up with the workers in the store aisles or at the checkout.

What p'ed me o?

Walked to relative's home for ride to pay bill... They weren't home, & I felt weak, so walked back to my place. Got ride from them later. On way to bank (needed a bit more than a buck to pay amt.), rain like crazy. Also realized I needed something for meal relative suggested we have while out. Went back home to get it, then to eat. While eating, rain stops.

totally this...

Heard the words " conversate "," hugemongous ", and about 15 " Bro "'s all used within the span of 10 minutes today... I'm fairly certain a black hole opened somewhere in the universe.

Millions, long ago...

Pete Townshend of the Who writes in the '90s years of his book about riding his bike down a hill. It hits a pothole, & he ends up in the hospital getting the choice of if he wants to have his arm positioned so he can still play guitar, or... Well, a different way.

I tripped in/on a pothole just over 9 years ago b/c I was watching traffic lanes & not all of the ground during a rainstorm... Ended up ushering my sibling's wedding (one of the people marrying on "7/7/7") with my jaw wired shut.

Since then, it seems a million holes have opened, but not on the ground anywhere... In the heads of persons where the popular-phrased "common sense" &/or simple "intelligence" once were.

Oh, & That pisses me off just about every day.

And the football season is just around the corner! More sorrow.

Not to mention Cavs signed-&-traded-away "Delly", but will probably use money they saved from his next contract to waste on James, Wade, or some other (figurative regardless of literal outcomes) loser.

Fireworks at 1 am for no other reason than a mix of idiocy, an inability to realize others are sleeping and/or a death wish. Damn movement disorder takes a startle to a spasm that's impossible to sleep through or rest through with brutal force.

Old guy wanted a disabled space in the car park - all the spaces were taken so he stopped his car in the driving lane to wait for someone to come out of the supermarket and move.

He didn't care that he'd blocked me in too - I was parked and wanted to leave but couldn't get into the driving lane. He looked at me and shrugged.

He didn't care that he'd also blocked a young guy in the car behind him who also wanted to leave but couldn't get past him. When the young guy sounded his horn to attract his attention, he just shrugged again.

And old guy was so determined to get a disabled space that he refused to park in an ordinary space that came free, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE ONE NEXT TO THE BLOODY DOOR OF THE SUPERMARKET AND THEREFORE NEARER THAN THE ONE HE WAITING FOR AND HAD LOADS OF SPACE FOR HIM TO GET IN AND OUT

Now, bearing in mind that all parking is free, that was just ignorant. He only moved when the young guy waiting behind him started to open his door to get out to speak to him.
