The city of Toronto is over 50% 'minorities'. And is a veritable safe haven compared to comparable cities in the US. Toronto is 4th in NA for population. A 2015 ranking of 50 cities by The Economist ranked Toronto as the eighth safest major city in the world, and the safest major city in North America.

Vancouver has similar ethnic diversity yet sits 3rd in crime rate in NA. Vancouver 'leads' Canadian cities in poverty ranking.

I would suggest poverty drives crime not race or ethnicity.



American colonist resorted to violent actions. Were they justified? Could they have effected change by non-violent means? Maybe, probably. If the British government had instituted proper laws the American Revolution would never have occurred.

Right of assembly and free speech are protections against tyrannical governments. Not rights to espouse hatred against other citizens.
