traveling with toys

I'm about to fly to NYC to meet my playmate for a long weekend. This being an anniversary, I just bought a jeweled steel anal plug to surprise her with. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to take it through security in my carry-on bag. They can take it out and look at it if they want to but I don't want to lose it. Has anybody had any experience flying with one of these? Advice?

Take a strong padded sealable envelope (with postage paid and addressed to either your home or hers), to put it in at the last minute, if you get told that you can't keep the toy in your carry on bag.

Come to think of it, next time just post the thing in advance if you can.
