the video/book/music chain Hastings declared bankruptcy on Mon. Although they aren't closing stores (yet), they have marked all comics 50% off.....so I bought about $40 dollars worth of comics yesterday....and I may go back on Sat for a second go

I know. Broke my heart to hear that too. But they are apparently $150 million in the hole. They have suspend new orders, preorders, and their buyback program. All gift cards expire mid July. They are trying to find a buyer in the next 30 days, but after that? Who knows

well, I know my local store has cut back heavily on everything, and has mostly focused on pop culture merchandise/ toys. Its a bitch trying to find a book or CD there anymore, which I think was part of the problem. They don't focus on their core demographic. If you're KFC; you focus on chicken. If you're a book store, focus on books!

I've noticed that the sales flyers have focused on the pop stuff lately. I always focused on the books, music, and movies. I would estimate that 80% of my music and movies come from Hastings.

yeah, I used to get most of my books and CDs there.....but like I said, they failed to keep up. And when a book comes out on the first, and it takes a week for them to put it out, I can go to Amazon, and get it in a few days...

just sad that they didn't keep up
