Afghanistan never had the massive kill rates of Iraq. Most Afghan conflicts are rural. You need an urban population to get 100-1 rates.

Afghanistan is not a success. The Taliban is the nationalistic force of the Pashtun people. Who number more than the French and live in inaccessible mountain valleys. Half live in Pakistan so Taliban fighters just need to cross the Durand Line to rest and rearm.

Nikolai could not beat the Afghans. And the Ruskies never cared about human rights or casualty rates all that much.

No conventional force has ever defeated an irregular army that has popular support.

An employee of a Texas dance studio says an exchange of gunfire that left two people dead and several others injured during a party began around midnight.

Jason Moore was working at the studio and says he noticed prior to the shooting that "a lot of people had guns on them."

Three people were killed and one injured in a shooting at a Mukilteo home early Saturday. A suspect has been arrested in Lewis County.

Police were called to the house in the 10000 block of Chenault Beach Road just after midnight. They found the three people dead, said Mukilteo Police Officer Myron Travis.

Travis said 15 to 20 people were gathered at the home when the shooting began.

Travis said, an arrest was made during a traffic stop at milepost 75 on southbound Interstate 5 in Lewis County. Travis did not provide information on whether a weapon had been recovered.
