But one of the things that keeps the incidences rare is that our government now takes this threat seriously. We will never to be able to stop "lone wolf" attacks because there is simply no conspiracy to penetrate. But if our government did not have a reasonable fear of more violent conspiracies not unlike we fell victim to on 9/11 there is no doubt whatsoever we would be victimized yet again.

To say that radical Islamists pose no threat to overthrowing the United States by force is certainly correct. But the fact that they are too stupid to realize that or are merely unconcerned about the fact hardly precludes the existence of a continuing threat at all.

What is incorrect about that statement?

Whatever ISIS do, they cannot destroy the US. Germany and Japan might have been able to do that during WW2 but that was unlikely. ISIS however hard it tries, how ever many lone wolfs it inspires, cannot degrade the US' fighting power.

ISIS is NO threat to the existence of the US. They can kill individuals, bring grief to US families, but they cannot invade the US with overwhelming military force. Any US state's National Guard would have more firepower than the whole of ISIS. Any reasonable size US town could assemble more guns and ammunition to repel an ISIS attack than ISIS could deliver to their fighters in the whole US.

Terrorists don't attack military powers with boots on the ground, but with small scale high profile killings organised for maximum propaganda value.

Even after Orlando, more US citizens will die from auto accidents this year than from anything ISIS can do on the US mainland.
