Greetings,

Long time lurker, recent sign up, and I have a couple of stories ready for publication (here, of course), and several more that I work on when inspiration strikes me. I am an academic, and I can write pretty well (grammar, punctuation, etc), but not perfectly, so I’d like another pair of eyes (or 2-3 pair) to look over my scribblings and find the errors and flaws I can’t spot. I’d also be interested in comments on plot, character development, etc., but like most authors, want the final say on those details.

Additionally, being male, I’m not sure that I can write realistic female characters, so I’d prefer female editors (especially ones who could potentially let me know whether certain lesbian actions and behaviors, sexual or not, are realistic).

Another issue is that I write in Libre Office (open source free office suite), and I’ve had trouble exporting to M$Word formats. Can do .pdf files, raw text, and of course, Libre Office/Open Office formats easily. And of course, anyone can download LibreOffice for free and use it native in less than five minutes (if you’re computer literate).

Anyone interested, please PM me, and we’ll talk. I have a couple of stories that are ready for final editing, and will happily send them to you. As a busy professional, I don’t have a lot of time for editing other people’s work, but would be happy to edit for the writers that edit my work (you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours). I’m happy to edit anything except Gay Male (no knowledge, but could do grammar/spelling/syntax) or BDSM (same).

Eagerly awaiting replies - I’m jumping at the bit to post my first story (Loving Wives, with a tame twist), but refuse to do so until it’s been properly edited and checked.

Regards,

Don't take this the wrong way, because I'm sure you didn't mean it the way it comes across. Why is it ok for men to write lesbian stories and look for female editors because all females know a good lesbian story when they see it, and yet you wouldn't be caught dead reading a GM story?

Be sure to turn on Private Messages.
* To switch on your Private Messages, go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the box titled Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators is NOT ticked. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

Boards and replies

_Lynn,

Thanks for the info. I have done so; PM’s can now be received, and I didn’t restrict the messages to Buddies and Moderators. Hopefully this will open up the floodgates.

To all: if you tried to PM me and it failed, please try again. My apologies for not having it set up right sooner.

To moderators: I’m seeing that there could be some confusion between the bulletin board and the literotica.com posting site. I had been communicating through the site’s message system, and thought opening that to PMs was sufficient. I suspect this is already out there in one of the how-to or welcome messages. But I’m not here to read how-to’s, I’m here to read erotica. My apologies.

Happy to reply, LadyVer. First off, I never said I wouldn’t be caught dead reading a GM story. In fact, I did mention that I could edit one for grammar/spelling/syntax. It would probably be easier in one sense, since I’d be paying less attention to the story and focusing on the editing.

It’s simply a question of taste. I’m not interested in reading Gay Male stuff, being straight. Nothing wrong with it, it’s just not my kink. But to say I wouldn’t be caught dead reading it isn’t accurate. I’ve actually read a few, to see if they interested me. They did not.

Don't take this the wrong way, because I'm sure you didn't mean it the way it comes across.

Didn’t. Not sure what I wrote that made you feel it came across that way. Personally, I’m not into GM or BDSM, and I wrote that. I could edit either, although if the BDSM stuff got too intense, I might not want to keep reading it. I can understand that some people find pain erotic. I’m the opposite. When I give my partner pleasure, it makes me happy and aroused. That makes the encounter much better for me. Specifically, my sexual pleasure is enhanced if my partner enjoys it too. This makes solo sex less fulfilling, and the thought of being with a, let’s say, paid companion, far less appealing. (I’ve never done that, so I can’t speak for the reality, just the thought.)

Anyway, I don’t see a conflict with seeking help on female characters and lesbian sex. If a women writer (or any writer) asked me to help her (them) with the emotions of a straight male character, I’d be happy to help. If a writer asked me to help with the emotions of a gay male character, I think my insights would be less useful.

Cheers,

Thank you for clarifying and for your courteous response. I had gone back and re-read your post after my comment and realized you weren' t saying what I thought you were saying. :rose:
