Transgendereism

Really butters, I haven't seen you come up Once with an informed or well-thought of argument in such discussions, or with anything that would pique one's interest. But I saw you come up with quotes from google and with Emerson-type comments. Many times.

So pardon us if some of us don't take you seriously.

There is so much hatred, ignorance and bile running through this whole thread it makes me incredibly sad. What ever happened to treating people with respect, kindness and compassion?

Some of the comments made here are quite frankly ludicrous. Do you honestly believe anyone would "choose" to feel as though they are the opposite gender than that which they were assigned at birth? You think they "choose" to struggle with knowing their bodies don't match up with their true gender? Do you honestly think they have "chosen" a "lifestyle" which puts them in danger of losing their families and friends, of being judged and hated before they've even been given a chance to introduce themselves, of being physically, verbally and emotionally abused? You wouldn't "choose" a life like that so why would you assume that they have?

As for the suggested "solutions" offered by the OP... they speak volumes about the kind of ignorant vile person you are. You lack respect, compassion and basic humanity. It's also abundantly clear that you have very little tolerance for anyone who may be different or who may not fit into societal norms. This may blow your tiny little narrow mind but gender is a social construct; and social constructs can evolve and change over time according to societal views. Given that they evolve don't you think it might be time you did too??

I can only speak for myself, but never have I ever met another human being I clicked with and thought to myself "well I like this person! I think we could be friends...but only if they aren't trans/gay/an ethnic minority/religious...etc"

And as for the whole bathroom thing...honestly America you have bigger problems to solve than this! It's really very simple... if you are either a cis-woman or a trans-woman use the ladies if you are a cis-man or a trans-man use the gents and if you are gender fluid go wherever you feel most comfortable going!

Trans people are PEOPLE... they are human beings just like everyone else. Being Trans does not automatically make you a pervert or a sexual predator. The suggestion that this will lead to more sexual assaults in bathrooms is ridiculous! A pervert will always find a way to be a pervert but the thought that trans people want to use the bathroom for anything other than having a pee or moving their bowels (like all us cis-gender people) is laughable!

By that logic we should fear every Muslim person carrying a backpack and we should castrate every man... since statistically the majority of rapists are men.

I'll go back to being a wallflower now ;)

We do.

It is that we resent the one-way street of treating people with dignity and respect.

I just got off the phone with my sister, and I described in details some of the dumbfuckery that I witnessed in this forum.

She told me that it actually isn't just a GB thing -as I initially thought-.
And that you see such mind-boggling political ideas on regular basis, and that both parties (be they liberals or conservatives) are becoming radicalized. The difference being that conservatives are on the side of the middle-class with tertiary education, whereas libs. are on the side of those who barely finished high-school.

Jesus fvcking Christ! I'm glad that I am where I am. They might be more concrete and less interesting than americans, but at least australians have sane and sensible politicians.
God help you all…

When your political science is the science of emotion and rhetorical sophistry, then you know you are right, you know you are good, you are fighting the good fight. Everyone who does not agree with you is then evil and hateful. This allows you to drop any and all pretense of civility in discourse. You can call them any name cause them of hateful motivation and even, as Throb is so willing to demonstrate, wish them dead; there is no attack to ease and to mean for those who clamor for dignity, respect and total equality. It's just that some animals are more equal than others...

;) ;)

I agree, but I still can't make up my mind:

Are these posters distorting issues on purpose, to stamp someone with the "bigot" label in order to find someone to hate?

Or is it just that they don't have a more in-depth understanding of the topics at hand, and they don't do shades of grey either?

Similarly, let us discuss how this whole issue came to the forefront. A liberal enclave in North Carolina attacked the right to private property by telling all business that they must comply to this new rule which was only discussed in liberal circles and decided by liberal lawmakers. When the rest of the state then moved to protect private property rights, the the Left went batshit crazy.

At least Target did it voluntarily; it was willing to lose some customers in order to satisfy the liberal outrage of the day. The liberals did not protest, they did not boycott, they did not try to persuade, they simply acted by fiat using the force and in-eloquence of government.

Now, that the issue has erupted into a nation-wide issue, we are still not allowed to have a conversation because the Liberals have decided that it is a settled matter, they are right, we are wrong and that we should shut the fuck up, which is why we see so much petty and ugly hate directed at it just for offering our opinions and concerns up for the sake of a discussion and reaching a common compromise solution. The problem is, the Left no longer compromises, it is looking for an excuse to violence...

Trannies have jumped the shark.

What will be the next bizarre perversion to enter the mainstream?

I don't know what kind of disorder transgenderism is, but I do know it's some kind of disorder. It certainly can't be described as normal.

What horseshit fallacy?
I'm just pointing out the GB progressives double standards or leap in logic (I still haven't figured out entirely which one applies to them)

1.They believe that I'm a female impersonator (homosexual or transgender or whatever), and they've been harassing me with all sorts of homophobic and anti-trans. attacks, slurs or graphic pics. for an entire year, in the hope that I might quit the forum.
- And it has Nothing to do with any danger that I might pose, since I don't do pm's and I never expressed any interest in relationships outside this public board.
- And they haven't done it just to myself: I'm just one of many.

2.Yet they claim that any male who tells the bathroom attendant that he identifies as a female has the right to use the ladies' bathrooms.

If you don't admit to seeing a "horseshit fallacy" in that type of logic, then YOU are full of horseshit.
The transgender woman = man dressing as women to fool people bit. That's not what defines it.

Also, #2 is false. That's like saying anyone who lies on their tax return has the right to dodge taxes. Entering the bathroom of the wrong gender (not sex, gender) under false pretenses is another matter.

I was doing the same LOL
So I'll just post my edited previous post (332), and then I'll read your post no. 333.

1.I agree with the emotionality.
I tend to be like that too, when I'm ignorant on a topic that is important to me.
But it ,mostly applies mostly to the layperson. Because politicians, who are cold-blooded calculated sociopaths, know how to tap into the collective emotions and which buttons to push.

2.And as far as some GB posters are concerned, I still can't get my head around it:
- Are these posters distorting issues on purpose, to stamp someone with the "bigot" label in order to find someone to hate?
- Or is it just that they don't have a more in-depth understanding of the topics at hand, and they don't do shades of grey either?
- Or both, and to what degree?

This is an issue that was created by the Republicans. They've already adopted it as their issue.

2012-13: A growing movement to install gender-neutral bathrooms at university campuses. During this period, 150 university campuses installed gender-neutral bathrooms, along with a growing number of high schools. The movement for gender-inclusive bathrooms in public facilities started at least as early as 2009 in the state of Vermont.

As to #2, yes they are distorting, but they do not realize it because they surround themselves via social media with people who think just like they do. This is why when one finally jumps into a thread like this, you see the pack follow to bray the same tired old mantras and assorted serious charges and ascription. The Left is done having any sort of discussion about its ideas, intentions and goals.

It just has to be and all of the rest of us are just obstacles in their way that have to be crushed, overcome and destroyed so that they can enjoy an inclusive, tolerant and respectful society.

That is not really the clash point here though, is it? This didn't take away the boys' and girls' dedicated bathrooms, it merely added a gender neutral option. Which is nice I guess. If a school has the will and resources to spend on it.

Maryland’s Montgomery County approved legislation in 2007 that granted men access to women’s restrooms, and vice versa, in the name of “gender identity” and “anti-discrimination.” When enraged county residents collected 27,000 signatures on a petition seeking a referendum, county officials defeated the effort by persuading a court to change the number of signatures required after the deadline for those signatures had passed.

Colorado adopted a “transgender nondiscrimination” bill in 2008 that makes it illegal to deny a person access to public accommodations, including restrooms and locker rooms, based on gender identity or the “perception” of gender identity. One consequence of the law is a ruling last month forcing authorities to permit six-year-old Coy Mathis – a boy who say he thinks he’s a girl – to use the girls bathroom at his elementary school.

My irony meter just exploded.

It's not just bathrooms. Schools also have locker rooms and showers.

They need to come up with some sensible definition instead of this ridiculous PCnness and prancing around it.

The word "Disorder" can be indeed derrogatory and damaging when used by assholes.
But in most cases, when using this word most people are just referring to the fact that they are "different" from you and me. So there's no need to burn them to the stake for using the "D word".

Conceded, those be more relevant examples.

"In an article in The Washington Post in 1975, [Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader] Ginsberg wrote to dispel the fear that the Equal Rights Act would “require unisex restrooms in public places.” According to Ginsberg, “Emphatically not so.”

"The now-Supreme Court justice continued, “Separate places to disrobe, sleep, perform personal bodily functions are permitted, in some situations required, by regard for individual privacy.”"

I wonder if Buzzy still feels the same way...

;) ;)

Bloody insane.
As an aunt, I feel outraged to know that certain men will inevitably be allowed in the same bathroom that women with very young kids are using.

Just because they tell the bathroom attendant (a person who didn't finish high-school and is often not bright enough to pick up obvious red flags) : I identify myself as a woman.

So much for Litlibs' bullshit argument that conservatives created this issue.

What were the odds?

Chicken, egg, chicken, egg... Political action A is always a reaction to political action B.

Personally I don't care where it started. I'm interrested in where it's headed.

Show me where I claimed conservatives created this issue.

It's the same-old same-old tug o war between progress and regress.
