Meghann Foye, 38, was jealous of co-workers clocking out for maternity leave, and decided she needed a break of her own. Here, the author of the novel “Meternity” (Mira, out now), tells The Post’s Anna Davies why she believes every woman deserves mandated “me time.”

I was 31 years old in 2009, and I loved my career. As an editor at a popular magazine, I got to work on big stories, attend cool events, and meet famous celebs all the time.

And yet, after 10 years of working in a job where I was always on deadline, I couldn’t help but feel envious when parents on staff left the office at 6 p.m. to tend to their children, while it was assumed co-workers without kids would stay behind to pick up the slack.

“You know, I need a maternity leave!” I told one of my pregnant friends. She laughed, and we spent the afternoon plotting my escape from my 10-hour days, fake baby bump and all.

Yes, it's called a vacation. Most places give you one after a year. Paid even. You should check it out.

I thought this threads was about Percocets. Was bouta say finally, but oh well.

And I believe I deserve a million dollars and a 1971 Dodge Challenger, but that's not happening either.

Yeah, well, those parents are not going home to fancy dinners and a mani-pedi. They are going home to puke, shit, and crying. That's some kick-ass "me" time right there. What an idiot.

They clearly haven't read the link. Because the article is Not meant as an attack on mothers who take maternity leave. It's almost in in the line of "let's learn from those who are able to balance two roles and who appear to get the bigger picture. Instead of getting burnt out like many of us do."
Nice trap. :)

NYPost: Pet Owners Deserve Family Leave Time Too…

Oh for the love of crap!

Via NY Post:

Bringing my adopted cat, Jameson, home with me in 2014 was one of the happiest days of my life.

Having to go back to work two days later was one of the worst.

While the rest of the country is hung up on the necessity of maternity leave — or even the newly coined “meternity” — one group continues to be overlooked when it comes to paid time off from work: new pet owners.

“Paw-ternity” leave is already a reality in the UK — the US pet-insurance provider Petplan found that nearly 5 percent of new pet owners in the UK were offered time off to care for their four-legged kids. (Not surprisingly, the UK is also light-years ahead of the US when it comes to maternity leave, offering up to 39 weeks of paid leave for new mothers.)
