Best Queen of England I've ever been reigned on!

I think she is super cool.

Almost certainly The World's Last Great Monarch.

Happy birthday to Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Canada and of Her other realms and territories, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith.

She seems like a very nice lady.

Her Majesty's full titles

In the United Kingdom, since 1953 Her Majesty's full title has been:

In English: Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith
In Latin: Elizabeth II, Dei Gratia Britanniarum Regnorumque Suorum Ceterorum Regina, Consortionis Populorum Princeps, Fidei Defensor

Defender of the Faith/Fidei Defensor (F.D. on coins) is an oddity. It was a title awarded to King Henry VIII by the then Pope. That worked out well, didn't it?

Her titles vary across the various states for which she is Head of State:

...and what is wrong with just plain Liz?

She's a 'Duke' and a 'Lord'? (semi-officially)

Yes. Duke of Normandy for two of the Channel Islands, and Lord of the Isle of Man, which are NOT part of the United Kingdom.

She has many other military and civilian titles as well but the official list shows those that are normally used.

In Canada she is 'Chief Hunter of the Buffalo Hunt'.

Why isn't she Duchess and Lady? She is a woman, after all. Isn't she?

Duchess is the title of the WIFE of a Duke.

Lady is a courtesy title for the WIFE of a Lord.

If a woman holds rank in her own right, she has that title and her husband doesn't get a title.

Women members of the UK House of Lords are Peers, not 'Peeresses' despite media ignorance.

Undergraduates and graduates of UK universities are both male and female.

Members and Fellows of Royal Societies are both male and female.

It is the rank that matters, not the sex.

She is married to the DUKE of Edinburgh!

That is HIS title as a Royal Duke. It was suggested that he be called Prince Consort like Prince Albert to Queen Victoria but that was rejected. Albert has been the only one.

I think they should both be referred to as Queens...

:D

How bad are the actual mothers in BC that Liz had to adopt everyone there?
Mother of all people is a lot of pressure.

Maybe that got lost in translation, Canadian accent and politeness...

Mother [fucker], of ALL people...

;)

[to hold in any form of admiration].

Pidgin Titles

The Prince of Wales spoke in the local language called Tok Pisin as he introduced himself as the "nambawan pikinini bilong Misis Kwin" – the number one child belonging to Mrs Queen. Similarly, when the Duke of Edinburgh visits he is addressed as "oldfella Pili-Pili him bilong Misis Kwin".
