The failure of candidates to attack the meme that the question of protecting unborn life is somehow about "women" has been the root of the problem since 1973. Its never been about "women" anymore than if a bank robber happens to be a woman making the bank robbery about "women."
The pro-life movement's greatest failure was by not confronting that meme every time it was raised, in every debate, in every argument. Its never had anything to do with "women." The vast majority of women never have abortions. Women don't get pregnant by themselves. Letting the enemy define the issue, and do so in an off the wall ridiculous way like calling it a "woman issue" was the big failing the movement made.
